Subject: [VeganMontclair] Family Friendly Events at Montclair Vegans! Feedback please :)

Thank you to everyone who came out to our first Montclair Vegans Family Friendly Potluck, especially the lovely Jenna and Peter who hosted us in their beautiful backyard!   Everyone had a great time, it was so relaxed and fun, and the food was absolutely delicious.  It was so nice to meet so many wonderful parents and adorable vegan kids!
You have asked for, and we're looking at how best to provide, a few more family friendly events this Fall - particularly a nutrition seminar, apple picking and a Vegan Halloween Party.
1. Montclair Vegans is lucky enough to have the lovely Dina Aronson,  MS, RD, a vegan dietitian whose specialties include vegetarian/vegan nutrition, who has very kindly offered to host a seminar for us on pre and postnatal nutrition, nutrition while breastfeeding and feeding your vegan kids.  I would love to have an idea on how many people would be interested in attending this, what topics are of greatest interest, and whether you'd prefer a weekend or a weeknight for this.
2. Also, because Halloween can be so challenging for vegan parents, because it can be a challenge to find vegan candy, we were thinking about scheduling our next Family Friendly Potluck on the weekend of 10/29/10/30, and making it a Halloween party.  Is this  something more people would be interested in attending?
3. I've had a few people ask us if we could organize a trip to go apple-picking, but don't know any local orchards that would be good for that.  Does anyone have any ideas?
Please let me have any feedback you might have, so we can start getting these events on the calendar!
As most of you know, thanks to all your support (and the ceaseless efforts of the lovely Dianne) we've been able to book some great vegan speakers coming up through the Fall and early part of 2012, so we have a very full and exciting calendar of events that we hope you'll attend and bring your friends and family to, and we look forward to being able to add more Vegan Family Friendly Events as well!
Thank you!
