Come get to know other vegan and vegan-inclined people on Oahu, and enjoy vegan food! This is an alcohol-free, family-friendly event. Please bring a generous amount of delicious vegan food or beverage to share (no animal flesh, eggs, dairy or honey). If you need recipes, see our "Cooking Resources" page. It doesn't have to be perfect or gourmet, just vegan, and it's even okay to come empty-handed if you must. If you do bring something, please read ingredients on prepared products and bring them with you or bring your recipe for anyone who has food allergies or sensitivities, wants to verify that it's vegan or wants to make your dish at home or find a product in the store. Common non-animal ingredients that some people miss are whey, casein or sodium caseinate, gelatin, albumen, anchovy paste, bonito (made from fish) and some "natural flavors." See our page, "Food Rules and Considerations For Potlucks" for more advice on food and etiquette for potlucks. I'll have some plates, utensils, paper towels and a few reusable cups and napkins and there are some reusables in the kitchen, but I encourage you to bring your own reusable cups, plates, napkins and utensils.
One Archer Lane is our apartment building. I am only allowed two parking spots for guests, which I am reserving for folks offering rides to the hike afterward. Several buses come very near to the building, however. Check transit directions to here from your location on Google maps. Otherwise, there should be parking available on the street and it is free on weekends.
Up to 20 of us will be on the 9th floor recreation deck where there is a pool, jacuzzi, lounge chairs, gas grills, tables and chairs outside and a recreation room with a small kitchen (sink, counter and refrigerator, no oven or microwave) and table and chairs. 20 people are the most that are allowed in the recreation room without advance permission. I am expecting some people to be no shows, leave early or arrive late, but if we have more than 20, I will bring some people up to our apartment. That said, please do not be a no show. If you have RSVPd as attending, but will be unable to attend, please change your rsvp to "not attending" as soon as possible to make room for someone else attend if we are at the maximum. See our page, "Guest List Policies" for the consequences of being a no show. Those who attend must follow all the rules for the recreation deck and supervise any children you bring with you closely. That means no running or diving, no wet towels or bathing suits in the recreation room, no dripping in the elevator and no disturbing the neighbors. I want you to stay safe and not get me in trouble with my neighbors or the management.
Please invite your friends on Facebook and Twitter! You can do this quickly and easily by clicking on the "Share" link above.
Post any questions in the comments and I will answer them if I can.

Hey, I checked my status on the event and it says I am on a "waiting list." What does that mean, am I still allowed to come??

Hi Maura,
Are you going to send us instructions on how to get into your building? I sort of know since I have been there before, but I don't remember what number to use at the intercom.
