Picnic on the lake in Lakewood

Summer is for picnics so let's have another one. We will meetup at the Lakewood Park Kiwanis pavilion any time after 1:30 and we will eat at 2 pm.

Bring a vegan dish to share, ample enough for 8-10 servings. Bring  your own table service and drinks.

This park is directly on the lake and will will not be far from it. The shelter is covered so we dine, rain or shine! We will be in the WEST quarter of Kiwanis pavilion. Well-behaved animals on leashes are welcome in the park, but they are not allowed under the shelter.

The shelter costs $50 which I am sending an advance. Be prepared to flip me a few bucks, if you can, to defray the cost. If you can't, that's fine too. The main thing is to come and join us. We have been talking about summer picnics for years, so here's one.

If you have questions that require a human to answer them, please call Jill at the Lakewood Parks dept,[masked] 6800.

You do NOT have to prepare a dish to attend. The park is near a Giant Eagle and also Nature's bin. Both have extensive delis and   you can get plenty of vegan stuff there by the pound to bring and share

email with questions  otherwise, See You There!

you, too, can book picnics   it's easy   find a place near you, pick a date and time that suits you, make a reservation with whom ever is in charge of the facility and let me know the details so I can put it up on the meetup site, and instant picnic! I don't think we can have too many in the summer, so book away!

We don't know much about the "raw" part. Is there someone we can call for advice?

I too would love to get the recipes for the two types of cookies we had at the picnic. I have 2 adult sons who are health nuts.

We had 12 people at the picnic and a fun afternoon. Some of us walked the concrete "boardwalk" along the lake after the picnic. We missed you Don.

Thanks for the info about vegan deserts, not sure I'll have time to bake this week so I'll probably be calling Nature's Bin! This will be my first time with the group and I look forward to meeting everyone!

I hear you on the condition I hope that a vegan diet and healthy lifestyle can help with that. I like your idea of the board game too maybe something where pieces won't blow away in a gust? See you there!

I just realized that I can only stay til 3pm. I may come a little early at 1pm and if I bring any games, I can leave them and get them back another day. :)

Does anyone know of a store in the greater Cleveland area that sells vegan pies or other desserts?

    June 11, 2013

    • Lynne

Natures Bin in Lakewood has a large selection of vegan desserts. If I want a whole cake or cheesecake or pan of lemon bars, etc. I usually call ahead a couple of days. They also have vegan prepared foods.
Root Cafe in Lakewood always has vegan cupcakes, muffins, cookies, puddings. They have a full raw vegan dinner including dessert on Thurs evening.
Deagan's restaurant always has at least one vegan dessert on their regular menu and a full vegan menu on Wed. evenings.

Breadsmith in Lakewood has vegan cookies and muffins.
