A chance to savor some delightful Lebanese style cooking in a cozy cafe setting.

Tucked away in a cozy corner of Salem Market and Deli in Middleburgh Hts, we will be treated to variety of Vegan dishes made by chef Samia, who really knows to bring out the flavors of mediterranean dishes. Fattoush salad, tabbouli, hummous, baba ghanoush, falafil, spinach pie, grape leaves and a vegan dessert is some of what is on the menu for us.

Our hosts Barb and Samia have agreed to do this homestyle with everything served to a table of four or five people. The total cost of the meal will be $15/person with everything included (food/tax/gratuity).

The Deli will sit 15-18 people so sign up early and if you do sign up please make every effort to show up because the food will be prepared for you. As a bonus our hosts have agreed to keep the store open for us afterwards in case anyone has the urge to take some mediterranean food home.

PLEASE do not use heavy perfumes or fragrances when attending our meetups. Guys, this can mean you, too, with after shave or cologne. They can trigger migraines and aggravate asthma. Let's save our sense of smell for the enticing aromas of the food in front of us.

So sorry to hear the sad news about the chef's family member.

Folks, I just received bad news. A close family member of our chef just passed away and she will be unable to cook for us on the 2nd as she will be away for the funeral. Please stand by until I figure out when we can reschedule this meetup. I apologize for the short notice. Thanks
    Ravi

    Hi Everyone,

Wow! this meetup is very popular. We currently have 20 signed up and 10 waiting. Unfortunately the cafe can only sit 20 people max.. People who have RSVP'd please update your RSVP if you are not going to be able to make it so that those on the waitlist can join.

Those who are waitlisted, if positions do not open up for this meetup I will talk to the owners and schedule another meetup here soon and hopefully all of you can come back.

    Thanks
    Ravi

This appears to be a very popular event...any chance the hosts would book a second date?

Must be beginner's luck LOL, yes, the event seems to be very popular. I do plan to schedule a second event here if everything goes well as this is the first meetup to be held at this location. Unfortunately the cafe area can only sit 20 people. I have a waitlist in place so that if anyone changes the RSVP the last minute then the waitlisted folks can come.

Might it be possible to have gluten-free vegan dishes available?

Thank you, Ravi, that is very kind of you! I have had tabbouleh made with quinoa instead of wheat before, but I totally understand if the chef is not comfortable doing that. Sounds like there will still be plenty of good things for me to eat!

Thank you and yes so have I :-). Perhaps once they get comfortable with us Vegans they may change the recipes later (like we have done at the other location Ali Baba's). Glad you will still make it.

    Dear Fellow Vegans,

The meetup now has people waiting to join and it will be much appreciated if you update the reservation status by the end of next week if for some reason you are unable to attend so that we can extend the invite to those on the wait list. Thank you much -Ravi

Have been living in Seattle for nearly 12 years.
Was born and raised in Cleveland.
Coming back to visit on the 27th of october, until November 4th
Look forward to potentially being a part of this event (on the waitlist) or any other events that are scheduled within this time period.
Thank you to all who have chosen vegan - for those who have not... Just do it already - you'll love it! the non-human animals will love it! it's a lovely thing!

Darryl, what better way than to welcome you back to town with a vegan meetup :). I will most definitely make sure that if there are cancellations that you are notified. The deli portion has only limited seating and hence the seating limit. I hope you get to make it because there are always last minute cancellations. Best -Ravi

I have to work until 7:00 P. M. this evening. Would it pose a problem if I showed up around 7:45 P. M.?

    October 15, 2013

    • Ravi K.

Not a problem Doug we will save your food :). The Salem's will have the place open until we all leave.
