300 Vegans 4 Independence Columbus Doo Dah Parade & Hal & Al's After Partyah

Friday, July 4,[masked]:00 AM to 6:00 PM Columbus, OH

Gazebo at Goodale Park

120 W. Goodale Street, Columbus, OH (map)

Hey COLUMBUS and surrounding area... Vegans!

ARE YOU READY TO MAKE HISTORY by joining in the largest, happiest, group of vegans in a parade this town has ever seen?!

On FRIDAY, JULY 4th, 2014,

We will walk together as ONE VISUALLY UNIFIED VEGAN display in Columbus's 31st DOO DAH Parade!
We will walk together to raise awareness of the vegan social justice movement!
We will walk together to connect others to our community of individuals who care about people, our planet and the animals!

300 Vegans 4 Independence in the Columbus Doo Dah Parade is our unique opportunity to present our message of peace and love to hundreds of thousands of people and connect with other Columbus Vegans! If you are vegan and zany, even better!!

For the People.
For the Planet.
For the Animals.

Check out these photos of the past three 300 Vegans events in Columbus and Cleveland Ohio. (We are spreading nationally this year and just had our first expansion event for St. Patrick's Day in Cleveland!)

Cleveland St. Patrick's Day Parade 2014

We encourage previous 300 Vegans Columbus parade participants to comment on their experience, so first-timers will get a feel for just how great this event really is!

All vegan parade participants will wear the Nonviolence United t-shirt as shown in the event photo to present a unified image. This year we have even more exciting news as we will have banners AND flags bearing the VEGAN message. We encourage everyone to wear your 4th of July best &/or craziest accessories! Beads, hats, face paint, glitter and bling...'s all about having fun while celebrating the unity of our vegan community!

Best news yet- This year- for the first time- the T shirts are FREE!! (donations are welcome). The caveat is this is first come, first served, no reservations, no guaranteed sizes, and you have to show up to get the shirt- one per person! So come early to get the best chances of getting your size. With the 2 previous years participation- it would be ideal if everyone who has participated in the past made it a priority to be at this years event so we might actually make the 300 Vegans on our 3rd year in the parade! If you already have a shirt, bring it, just in case we don't have enough for everyone who shows up. If we do have enough shirts, those who have a shirt can still get a new one! We have a special surprise this year too regarding the will see when you show up! :-)

We will update the weather as we get accurate forecasts closer to parade day, but one of the last two years saw the temperature on the 4th has been really hot (104 degrees!!) in the past so be sure to drink/bring plenty of water!

Rules of the Road:
300 Vegans is a fun- filled opportunity to connect with the community - it is an invitation- not a protest, so be sure to keep the propaganda family friendly. As before we have 2 authorized fliers (A Life Connected brochures by Nonviolence United and the 300 Vegans Local Vegan Resources Guide) - Coupons and local vegan businesses fliers are welcome- all fliers others must be approved. Creative red, white and blue festive color accents are ideal as well! It would be a riot if we had some paleo-vegans to make fun of the paleo- flesh eaters- or at least some creative playful signs! Jeremy has some awesome happy cheers in store for us too! And remember, the best response to any hecklers or those who may be shouting BACON at us (it happened last year) is to make the vegan/peace sign and shout VEGAN right back at them with a giant smile! Our massive numbers drowned them out!! This is about having fun and a little friendly competition is easily negotiable :-).

We will be meeting at the Gazebo for registration, t-shirt distribution, photo shoot, food and fun! After the parade we will cool off at Hal & Al's on 1297 Parsons Ave, Columbus, OH 43206 (614)[masked] right after the parade for a vegan eats, drinks, including root beer floats for the kids! Parking is available on the street nearby and in a parking lot across the street on Gates.

Parade Day Timeline:
Friday, July 4, 2014
10am to noon: Sign-in, introductions, sign making, vegan eats and t-shirt distribution at the Goodale Park Gazebo near Park St. and Buttles (near Elephant Fountain/pond), Columbus OH. Parking is available around the park at meters and within the park itself.
Schedule: 10am-noon: Photo shoot / mingling/ food Noon: Parade line up
1:00pm: Parade begins 3pm: After Parade Party! At Hal & Al's for vegan eats!
Right now we are close to expanding the 300 Vegans project in 10 cities across the nation. The vision is in the not too distant future sweep over WDC in the largest single display of vegan solidarity this nation has ever witnessed. These shirts, are just part of the part of history.

SOOO LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING HOW MANY WE CAN GET THERE! SPREAD THE WORD! Create a buzz, share all over your Facebook, twitter and other networks, post fliers at local vegan friendly restaurants, coffee houses etc.

If you would like to volunteer in other ways, I could really use the help! THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Hello Ramesh, I believe I have two people so far, and I have an suv, so I do have room for one more... where do you live??

    • Lucie

I am happy you have found some carpoolers! I am way east, in Painesville in Lake County. I do have room for one or possibly two more in my car, if anyone lives out this way or lives on the way.
