Full Moon First Creek Easy Hike

First Creek Moonlight Easy Hike (non-singers/non-players)

Current hourly weather forecast - Blue Diamond

To be in compliance with the BLM 20-person limit, we will split this hike into two events. This one is for those who just want to hike and do not plan to play an instrument or sing. If you plan to bring/play an instrument or sing, sign up for the other "Full Moon First Creek Experiment - Desert Jam" instead: (rsvp for one, not both)

NOTE: we often lose participants who go to the wrong place (Oak Creek) when they see parked cars. Oak Creek often has a popular "drum circle". That is NOT our group. First Creek parking is a mile south of Oak Creek.

  • Difficulty Rating: 1 (easy)
  • Total Distance: 3.5 miles
  • Elevation Gain: minimal

For night hiking - my Amazon review - red lens mini-flashlight (red lens back in-stock)

This easy moonlight hike is over fairly flat terrain. Instead of the common First Creek mini-waterfall route, we will veer to the left on toward a clearing area surrounded by trees. Here we will take time to rest, snack, or whatever before heading back. Meet directly at the parking area at 7:45PM sharp. Those more than 5 minutes late will have to catch up on the trail.

Keep your organizer's phone # with you - Bob - (702).35zero.7zero12

I practice Leave No Trace hiking and ask that you do too. That means no trash left behind...not even orange peels or apple cores. If you have a dog along, be prepared to clean up after it.

Important Things to Know About This Hike:

  1. Bring plenty of water and snacks.
  2. Feel free to use sticks or poles or whatever other equipment is helpful to you.
  3. Red Rock rules say dogs must be leashed.
  4. Hiking shoes are preferred but any comfortable closed-toe shoe will do for this hike.
  5. We won't be climbing any big hills or rocks. There are no cliffs and edges to worry about.
  6. We recommend that you bring a flashlight (red lenses work best) or other lighting device.
  7. Feel free to call the organizer and ask any questions you might have regarding the hike.

See you on the trail!

We had a total of 14 (2 groups) show up for this hike. Can anyone help me with who did and did not actually attend so that the list of attendees shown on the right is more accurate?

With the rain recently, it is possible that we might encounter a few mosquitoes. So, just be prepared. Fortunately, no rain is forecast and cloud cover should be under 20%.

Since the list is full, will I have to skip this hike? It would be my first hike with the group.

The 20 limit is more of a BLM "suggestion". For hikes at night, especially outside the Red Rock loop, I doubt that BLM would care how many people show up.
