OUTREACH: Vegan Info Table at UNLV

In honor of World Day for Farmed Animals we will have an information table at UNLV. Students will be able to come by and collect information and vegan food samples from Vegas Veg volunteers. Please RSVP to be a volunteer and help out.

VOLUNTEERS (2 ways to help!):
It's only 3 hours and it's super-easy. You will just sit or stand near our table and offer students free information and food samples. We also need volunteers to donate vegan food samples. If you want to do that, please make or buy vegan food such as cookies or mini cupcakes. Make the sample sizes small and individually wrap each sample. Please also list the ingredients on the samples themselves or on a sign we can post near the samples.

Parking: Remember that UNLV may ticket or tow cars parked improperly. TO avoid that, park in the free sections or in metered parking. The free lots are lot S and sometimes at the Thomas & Mac. There are meters near the Library and by the Student Union. The meters take quarters and in the metered parking you can only park for 2 hours at a time.

Recap: Set up a table at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) for World Day for Farmed Animals. I gave out literature and clementines (to sweeten it). The idea was to engage a bit more conversation with a table rather than the traditional leafleting. Have a number of great conversations with people who were part-time vegetarian, vegetarian, pescatarian, or vegan. They were all glad to see a veg presence on campus and wanted more. Everyone was positive. Every single person.
Did a bit of leafleting in between conversations and handed out 150 Compassionate Choices.

I'm really sorry but I have to cancel. To be honest I've been in & out of the hospital for the last few weeks. I'm still trying to do what I can but am loosing track & getting confused w/doctor appts & protests, leaflet dates. I have a doctors appt tomorrow that conflicts w/this event. I'm so sorry!

Elaine, I'm still gonna try and come by. Even if its only enough time for me to pick up more rack booklets from you...that is if you get my messages in time, in order to have them with you. if not, we'll figure it out.

THis event was last minute so we didn't get funding for food samples. So whatever we have in the way of food samples will be whatever each of US bring ourselves.
