If the animals are one of your motivations for eating a plant-based diet, then PLEASE READ THIS.
The most effective way to save animals lives is to eat veg. After you've done that, the next most effective way to save animals lives is to encourage others to eat veg.
Most of us have tried to convince friends and family to go veg. Sometimes we're successful. But a lot of times it feels like we're just banging our head against the wall. Here's a helpful tip: Don't dwell on the people you know who won't change.
Instead of banging your head against the wall trying to convince your friends and family to go veg, go out and leaflet! You can do more good in an hour of leafleting than years of one-on-one conversations with many of your friends and family.
Encouraging others to eat vegetarian or vegan is a "numbers game." Even if you have a weekday job or you're a student, consider taking one long lunch break each month to join us when we leaflet at UNLV.
Vegas Veg members will reach out to students with a peaceful education campaign that encourages plant-based diets for the benefit of animals, the planet, and human health. We will stand on the sidewalk and hand out colorful informative pamphlets. It's super-easy and lots of students appreciate our efforts. Almost every one is very polite to us.
Meet me (Elaine) by the North Field (near the library and the CBC buildings). I usually wear a red UNLV hat and I'm a tall white woman with brown hair. If you can't find me, try calling or texting [masked]. Chances are I will be in the shade :)
Note: We will NOT have a table or booth.
End time is approximate. We may finish early or stay late.
Four of us from Vegas Veg handed out about 675 CC leaflets today at
UNLV. Two of the leafleters were completely new and they did such a
great job! The leafleters were: myself, Christina, Julian, and Dalton.
My weather app said it was supposed to be in the 80s and it felt nice
but a bit hotter than 80s. The shade was better than direct sun, as
usual here in the high desert. Most of us stayed in the shade while we
leafleted.
2 students I leafleted said they were already vegetarian. Of
course, I always point them in the direction of Vegas Veg so they can
socialize with other vegetarians and vegans.
A woman said she only buys "humane meat" from her own family farms "back home" and we talked a little about that. I reminded her that animal products in restaurants probably don't come from the same places were she buys her food for home and I asked her to consider eating vegan at restaurants. She said "I never thought about
restaurants."

Handing out the leaflets was a lot of fun! I even had some good conversations with strangers. More people should come to this!
