If you RSVP show up.
We'll be in the 39th street area having Middle Eastern at the Aladdin Café (Jerusalem Cafe is also good, although they won't split checks). If you've never had Middle Eastern food, this is a great vegan friendly choice. Think Hummus & Pita Bread, Grape Leaf Rolls (Dolmas), Baba Ganouj, Roasted Red Pepper / Genie Dip, Falafal Sandwiches, and some of the best Yellow Lentil Soup you've ever had... if you're not one of our vegan members they also have some tasty phyllo dough pastries.
Pita bread is normally vegan, as is theirs. If you go for the salad make sure to remember that they put feta cheese on it, you can also order the sampler platters with out feta cheese or krass pastries.
They've remodeled, removed the area upstairs, and expanded downstairs. They have seating for about 70 people with the patio and side areas, although only about 20 in the back room... so we may be a little spread out depending on the size of the group that shows up.
We've decided to order off the menu this time around, they have some great sandwiches and such at reasonable prices. I highly recommend the sampler platter. We could have arranged a vegan buffet, but at 12-13 dollars depending on the group size, we thought it best to keep it affordable and flexible for as many as possible.
This is one of the best local Mediterranean restaurants around.
