Sunday Supper Club (at Tea Time) All you can eat.

  • Sep 14, 2014 · 6:30 PM
  • Bhel-Poori House (INDIAN VEG)

I hope you can join me for the " all you can eat yum fest" that is the Bhel Poori House (aka Indian Veg) for a late afternoon / early evening nibbles on sunday. I hate eating alone so hopefully some of you great folks will join me in wrecking my "post christmas diet"  Again!!!  ;-)  (actually as I have been copying this event listing since january, maybe it should read STILL   he he he  ).

For those who have not been before and Like Indian food, I can not recommend this place highly enough. Everything is vegetarian and many things vegan (if we have lots of vegans decide to go I will talk to the guys there and see if we can't get a few more options put on).
It is self service buffet and you just keep going back as often as you want and all for about £6 (drinks extra) . They only take cash and if I may recommend a small gratuity be added.  Oh and if you can bring small notes and change you will make my life a whole lot easier, Ta Muchly....

After that a short stroll across the road and maybe a little liquid winter warmer for those with a little more time on their hands. Or as it's now sunny, a little summer cooler (see comment above about copying since christmas).

A perfect informal event for newcomers to meet some of the regulars.

Hope you can make it and I'll see you there.

Hugs Malcolm

I also understand your anger. It is impolite, but the people you attacked where the people who apologised. The people who didn't probably don't even read your posts, so I am wondering whether you could put everything in a somewhat nicer tone. I also don't appreciate that you 'educate' the entire group by not having any event until the new rules have been put in place. We are adults and not 5-year olds. Sometimes things come up, people are forgetful. As long as they apologise it should be fine. Maybe, you should put this behind you and move on. Thank you, Sylvia

Hi Sylvia, as I just received an email from Malcolm, I did look at the event, I am sorry but I do not like your email, I think, you never organised an event, it is extremely upsetting if people just don t turn up or change shortly before, it is NOT enough in my opinion to just apologise and M is very well entitled to be as tough a he likes as it is his group. I think he should be even firmer, two no turn ups and out you go would be my way...

Sorry Sylvia, Do you think I am having a toys out the pram moment?
While I am disgusted with the people who have brought about this change, the reason for suspending events is not "to educate the group". I tried that and it failed. Unfortunately the group has now to be subjected to tighter restrictions and it took a little time to organise them.
Regarding those who apologised, they are still committed to attend if on the "going" list at T-24 hours, no amount of apology gets them off that hook. The ones who are not here and apologising are being dealt with "off camera" so to speak.
There has now been an announcement regarding the new policy and I hope you approve the steps. Regards Malcolm :-)

Hi guys, I did cancel this time and I cancelled 24h in advance, so I don't feel criticised.

      indeed, see comment below :-)

People go to a lot of trouble to organise these Meetup things and it really is such bad manners to RSVP then not turn up without cancelling the RSVP.

    September 15, 2014

  • MJ

Right.... Now turning to everyone else...

You people who did not bother to turn up yesterday are welcome to offer reasons at this time.

I appreciate things change, however that problem belongs to the attendee NOT me or the restaurant or the good people who did go.

Last night was a new low. Out of 24 confirmed yeses at T-12hours (The cut off at which you ARE committed is T-24 hours let me remind) we had 7, let me spell that our SEVEN attend, including myself (and I drove there for 3.5 hours , sitting stationary in a traffic jam for 2 of them, round trip time 5.5 hours, distance 110 miles ) anyone else want to try the "transport difficulties " card? please don't.

Effective Immediately there will be no more events announced until the new system has been introduced. This will be a troublesome thing and will cause inconvenience and cost to myself and my members.

The first casualty will be this months Tibits event.

Please watch for the announcements in the coming days.

I'm dropping out to make way for someone else. I have last minute work commitments so might be too late to make the whole evening. Hope to make the next one. Have fun.

It goes without saying I'm sorry for missing last night. It's just sometimes people really can't make it at the last minute. I've been in the meet up group for four years and always had a great time. I look forward to many other meet ups in the future. Hope that resolves everything.

It should not LOOK like a harsh email, It IS a harsh email. Regarding appologies... It did in fact go without saying as, like your RSVP was not even changed, you had not said it. Now you have appologised and I have less polite fish to fry. It does resolve your part in this, thank you.

Thought I would pop this us as it answers quite a few questions and gives useful information.

    "
Nice easy event , this one.
Turn up with cash in your pocket (they don't take cards), Your host will great you and you grab a seat. When we get tired of waiting (ussually about 10 mins after the start time we grab food and eat (Repeat, add-lib till full).
    Drinks are ordered separately.
When we finish, the host will go round and collect up the money (food fee plus whatever drinks you had, plus perhaps a small gratuity for our patron). We pay and then many go to the pub :-)
Try to rock up on time or even slightly early.

Oh and as I am writing this, a small note to some of the "usual suspects"

Everyone who comes to the event will be paying the standard food fee. No special deals, no chating to the owner, no "I eat here for free", no "I just popped in for a drink"

    Regards Malcolm
