Celebrate Vegan Pizza Day

Saturday June 29th is Vegan Pizza Day, how about a daytime vegan pizza celebration.

Mmmmmmm... Pizza....

Ok, Pizza Hut on Suffolk Street in Dublin 2, have been particularly helpful and will be delighted to host Vegan Pizza Day for us.  They are going to provide an 'all you can eat' vegan pizza extravaganza and salad bar at a cost of €9.99 per head for adults, and if there are children under 12 attending, the cost for them is €5.75 each.

All pizza bases will be deep pan as that is the only type suitable for vegans.

It should be fun!  Looking forward to seeing you all there!  :)

This meetup was such a great idea! It was nice we made it to Lurve as well as eating loads in Pizza Hut. :-) Thanks Louisa.

Piero at Artisan has confirmed that his bases are suitable, as they don't use any grease as they're placed directly on the stone when cooking. He asked 'Would Dalky suit or too far?', which I'm taking to mean 'Dalkey'... any thoughts?

Well done Louisa, it sounds great :-) If an organiser can edit the location address to 24 Suffolk Street, you'll get a more accurate Google map (it's near the Suffolk Street bus stop, as seen on Street View https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?layer=c&cbp=13,154.33,,0,1.53&cbll=53.343665,-6.260424).

PLease make sure there's a venue posted by tonight. It's currently 'needs a location'. Keep up the good work!

    June 3, 2013

    • Sarah B

Malachi, you'll need to be patient. So long as it's listed a week beforehand, there is no need to worry! Plenty of time to get the finer details settled. This is Louisa's first event to host with us and we greatly appreciate her taking the time to do so :)

I was convinced this was Tues - this is NOT Roots & Shuuts!!! Apologies, Louisa.

Co-op Cafe have pizza listed, you'll have to check if it's vegan(isable) http://www.happycow.net/europe/ireland/dublin/

    • Richard Ⓥ M.

Piero at Artisan thinks his bases are vegan, but he's checking for us. If they are, I've asked him to let us know of any other restaurants he supplies.

      1 · May 31, 2013

    • Richard Ⓥ M.

Piero's not confirmed vegan suitability yet, but he did recommend Co-op Cafe, I'll let him know that the venue is too small.

    Milano is an option.

Cork Vegans have held get-togethers in the Cork branch! They brought vegan cheese.

      3 · May 31, 2013

    • Richard Ⓥ M.

Of course, as you point out Aoibhinn, "Milano pizza is not great", and it would be good for you to support an independent (preferably veg) place anyway.

Blazing Salads do vegan pizza, though they're takeaway only http://www.happycow.net/reviews.php?id=966

Hi, would http://www.oliveto.ie/ in Dun Laoghaire be an option. It's a nice restaurant with a great staff and they always do a really nice vegan pizza for me + we can eat outside overlooking the pier and Dublin Bay! It's 3 min away from the Dart so easy enough to get to.

    1 · May 30, 2013

    • Sarah B

I hadn't heard of the place before and I live in Dun Laoghaire! Thanks for telling us about it Johan :) But yes, a city centre location suits most people best.

      May 30, 2013

  • Alex

I had vegan pizza there too, lovely views from the restaurant and you can go for a walk along the pier afterwards if you want to lose some calories!!!

I was wondering where you came across the event Louisa? I found the Facebook page for the event: https://www.facebook.com/VeganPizzas

I've also mentioned this on the pizza lovers group :-) http://www.volentia.c...

No problem, I hope you all have a successful event.

      2 · May 30, 2013

I wonder would a pizzeria in the city centre (who doesn't use eggs or milk powder in their dough) be willing to create a menu of vegan pizzas for us?! Perhaps perhaps! Please make some enquiries (anyone interested, that is!) and let's see what we can do! I remember hearing that certain pizzeria's use egg/milk powder but don't know who off the top of my head.

Nice idea! I am a 'hopeful maybe' at this stage; flying away for a while early the next day, so will have to see on the day.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
