New Meetup: Karen Dawn at Left Bank Books; Speaking Engagement at SWIC; VegaDeli

Happy Valentine's Day St. Louis area Vegetarian Meetup members!

I've got a couple of quick announcements about coming events:

Yesterday, I received word of an event Monday night at Left Bank Books in the Central West End that I've placed on the meetup schedule. Karen Dawn, author of "Thanking the Monkey" will be at Left Bank to read selections from her book and take questions from the audience. It should be an interesting and informative program, so if you can stop by, then please do. As far as I know, there is no charge and no pressure to purchase the book, however, I'm sure Left Bank will have plenty of copies available for sale. The program begins at 7:00 pm.

On Friday, February 20, Meetup members Constance and Melissa will speak to three English classes at Southwestern Illinois College (formerly Belleville Area College) on the topic "Vegetarian sub-culture." This a a wonderful opportunity to publicize the veg*n message, so please join me in wishing Constance and Melissa luck and in thanking them for agreeing to take on this assignment. THANK YOU CONSTANCE AND MELISSA!! I also wish to thank Sarah, who volunteered too, but had a conflict on the day we scheduled the presentations. I expect more speaking invitations in the future, so if any of you are interested in speaking on behalf of the Veg Meetup group, let me know, and we'll work on forming a speaker's bureau.

Finally - a heads up on VegaDeli. I was there Monday and can't recommend it highly enough. The food is terrific. However, as seems to be the case with so many of our favorite veg restaurants, we can expect less than quick turnaround for our orders. So please plan accordingly.

It looks to be a busy week ahead for St. Louis vegetarians. But on this Valentine's Day, the animals want to express their heartfelt love for all you do to represent their interests to the community at large: OINK, MOOOOO, TWEEEEET, CHIRPPPP, MEOW, ARF, and GOBBLE, GOBBLE!!!!!!!!
