Hi Jeff, Can you give me some more details on the Animal Cruelty Case Manager? I am interested in getting involved. And, from you description, that sounded the best for me - my husband and I hare a care so it is difficult for me to be able to actually go out and investigate or volunteer. This sounds great - thank you very much for your response!

Dear Friends,

If you are interested in getting involved in our humane society, this would be a great opportunity.  We have several volunteer positions that only require a few hours per week or month.  At our next meeting, which is scheduled for Monday, September 19th, we will review many of our volunteer programs and ask you to join one or more of them.  The meeting will take place in the back room of Rotolo's Pizzeria, located at 2025 Veterans Memorial Blvd, in Metairie, from 7-8: 30 pm. You may wish to order off the menu.  There are some veggie/vegan selections.  Here is a list of our current volunteer opportunities and some of their duties:

1.  Animal Cruelty investigator.  Each investigator receives both classroom instruction and supervised field experience.  These investigators answer calls throughout the metropolitan and surrounding areas and work with law enforcement agencies to help uphold the local and state cruelty statutes.

2.  Animal Cruelty Case Manager.  These volunteers work from home and review cases and complaints in their spare time, ensuring that complaints are adequately investigated.  These workers often contact law enforcement officials in other parishes in order to follow up with the initial complaint.

3.  Pet Care Educator.   After receiving some training and guidelines, these volunteers visit local schools, YMCAs, children hospitals, hospices, ect and discuss animal related  topics, often with live animals, such as dogs, cats, hedgehogs and birds!  Team members visited three locations over the summer and was a big hit!!!

4.  Fundraiser and Special Events Coordinator.  We always have a need to raise funds for our programs, the operation of our animal sanctuary and general services. If you are interested, please Inquire about our part-time paid fundraising positions or you may wish to volunteer.

Should you have any questions, please contact Jeff at [address removed] or call him at [masked]. You may also wish to join our volunteer support team at
