Please welcome Paul, our 483rd member!!! Pretty awesome. The Humane Society of Louisiana
formed this group in June of 2007 to promote a meat- and dairy-free diet and reduce the suffering of farm animals. Besides overseeing this group, our organization operates a no-kill sanctuary in Tylertown, Mississippi that is home to 200 animals and runs 12 satellite chapters around the state. Operating on a shoe-string budget, our group relies on volunteers to help us develop and expand many of our programs and services. We also work closely with Kasia's Ark Bird Rescue
, the only bird rescue and rehabilitation group of its kind in our area. (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kasias-Ark-Bird-Rescue/416518430032
) To review some of our work, I am attaching our most recent newsletter.
On Monday, September 19th, we will be hosting a general membership and volunteer meeting, from 7-8:30 pm at Rotolo's Pizzeria, located at 2125 Veterans Memorial Blvd. Everyone is welcome to attend, to learn more about volunteer opportunities. There are some vegan and vegetarian dishes (mainly salads). To financially support our efforts, you may also wish to become a paid member or join our monthly pledge program, which starts at only $5.00 a month. To register, please visit
