Please post this message on your social networking sites and make an effort to support this symposium and wildlife rehabilitation in general. Here is the information we would like you to share and respond to:
For the past several years, our humane society has been studying the issue of wildlife care in our state and the resources devoted to their protection and rehabilitation are almost at an all time low. There are very few licensed rehabilitators in Louisiana - only 30, down from 50 two years ago - and little or no funding to support their efforts. That means that there are very few people in our state helping the thousands of mammals, reptiles and birds who are injured or orphaned each year.
To increase the awareness of this problem and train more volunteers, the National Wildlife Rehabilitation Association is sponsoring a four-day symposium in Baton Rouge, from March 13th through the 17th at the Crown Plaza Hotel, 4728 Constitution Ave. Volunteers are needed throughout the symposium to help set up, man booths and break down conference rooms. If you are free during any of those day or evenings, please contact Beau Gast at <[address removed] or visit:
We are also seeking sponsorships from individuals or businesses and items for the silent auction portion of the symposium. Monetary donations of any level may be sent to Friends of the NWRA Symposium 2012, 2625 Clearwater Rd, Suite 110, St. Cloud, MN 56301. If you would like to donate an item for the silent auction table (we are looking for artwork, antiques, gift certificates or curios) please contact me at [address removed].
