I apologize for including such a gruesome picture, but this is what we see or hear about on a daily, almost hourly, basis in our line of work. This poor, emaciated horse was recently abandoned and left to die, near Ville Platte in Evangeline Parish. Luckily, some of our volunteers got to her in time, and she is now receiving medical care and plenty of food. People think that there are humane societies or animal control departments in every township or parish in our state. Sadly, they are mistaken. 30 out of 64 parishes fail to fund any type of basic animal care services. That is why we try and cover as much ground as we can each and every day and that is why we need your support.
There are two simple ways to help. First, send in your $20.00 annual membership dues to the Humane Society of Louisiana, P.O. Box[masked], New Orleans, LA 70174 or join our monthly pledge program by registering on line at https://secure.icorp.net/humanela/monthlydonor.htm
Second, and more importantly, attend our upcoming April 5th party at the Bridge Lounge! We are hoping to have at least 50 people attend this event and raise at least $2,000 for our animal care programs. The cost for caring for this horse alone will cost multiple hundreds of dollars, so this is a very modest target. However, we still need your help in achieving it. You can also help by donating a gift certificate, jewelry or anything of value to our raffle and silent auction. To make a donation, please contact Katrina Williams at[masked]-3089.
Let's make this party count for this horse and others who still may be suffering! Please RSVP if you haven't already. Please also post the announcement of this party on your personal social networking sites. Team, let's truly get this party started!!!!
