Hey everyone, didn't mean to offend--anymore than I was offended.I'm no bully, unless you need me to be.When you take responsibility for a living creature,it is a lifetime commitment, period. You work around the problems.I have spent my entire life since the age of seven (41 now),do so to this day,and will until the day I die--rescuing and rehabilitating animals that are dumped by others--for exactly this type of reason.I have made the concessions and adjustments necessary to pick up and soothe--and love until the end  no matter what--the living creatures many a VEGAN has dumped because of a new baby,or worse, because the once-beloved cute puppy has become elderly and now has a leaky bladder.
Not looking for a cookie;I am not alone in my efforts. That said, the cat deserves a better family and I will of course step up.But perhaps there is a boy who needs to make a lifetime commitment to a cat that pees in his bed before he calls me names...if so,I will step aside and support him with all that I have learned about that.Peace&Love,Ryan

Casey,
I feel ya, really I do. I never imagined that having a child would change the way I felt about my dog (who is now thirteen years old) -- but it did. My one-year-old son takes up a lot of space in my heart and in my day, as well he should, but I feel sad for my dog who has undoubtedly noticed the change.

However -- when I got that dog, it was for life. There is no getting rid of her. She depends on me and it's my job to continue to provide for her, regardless of how I feel. You gotta make it work, Casey, because you are the center of your cat's world. It's not his fault he's a cat. It's completely understandable that he's having a hard time accepting that suddenly you don't need him anymore. Have you talked to a behaviorist? Maybe find one online? There are definitely ways to fix the problem.

There's nothing like having a baby to show us the true nature of pet ownership.

I'm going to go give my dog some attention now.

Erin

Anyone else in this group get the concept of LIFETIME COMMITMENT? When your kid starts acting like this in daycare or playdates do you GET RID OF IT?
 Just wondering...

Hi all!
I hope that someone in this group can help me.  I have an almost 10 year old car that I am, unfortunately, having to find another home.
He is a big, beautiful, orange and white tabby. His name is Oliver and he has lived all over the place (Alabama, Colorado, even Hawaii!)
Unfortunately he has become extremely jealous of my five month old and has started peeing on anything that belongs to her (cloth diapers, stuffed animals, toys, etc). We have tried a few different things and nothing seems to keep him from doing it.
This is not typical of him but it has progressively gotten worse instead of better and I think he needs to be given more attention (of which I am in short supply of these days)
He is not a lap cat but loves to curl up on the other side of the couch or on a chair next to you. He loves being around people.
I really want him to go to a loving, caring home and hope that one of you, or someone you know, can help.
Thanks,
Casey

Hey everyone,
1)We are in NEED of a budget Videographer, yet again.....many have committed without a contract then say they have other plans...very frustrating.  If you can please, please send us a professional videographer that is willing to do this on a modest budget, would be great! We are looking for:
An edited produced 10 minute video capturing snippets from the 2 day event
Raw footage of all the speakers on both days.
Please email me at [address removed]  with the info as we are now 24 DAYS AWAY FROM THE FESTIVAL!!!

2)As a REMINDER, we have Nola Veggie Fest tickets for sale at a discount on our website for the first time, so show your support, get the savings and be the early birds! Early birds at the door also get goodie tote bags!!!  Again, our website is www.nolaveggiefest.com

3) We will VERY soon have our posters and flyers and will need all hands on deck to get these into circulation.  I will send out an announcement probably on Saturday when they are due to arrive!

4) We are holding the Earth Day event on April 22nd at Bayou St. John and are seeking folks to prepare food for sale! The profits go to the Humane Society of Louisiana/ Veg Fest.  We of course would pay for any ingredients used.

5) Please like us on facebook and twitter for regular updates and be sure to check the website for vendor/sponsor updates.  Please share our info wherever possible with friends and family!
