Sorry all;didn't mean to start a war.Casey, you made the right decision asking for help for your kitty, and of course your human child is no less important.I sincerely hope that she recovers quickly.I am guessing that everyone in this group is an adult,an animal-lover,and has some understanding of the problems that can (and will!) arise with pets, and the choices we must make in order to be caretakers.I took a risk in asking my first question because I too felt I would receive massive criticism...the response has been interesting.
I only meant for the situation to be considered from the other side--babies/toddlers with health issues like this are sometimes contagious and dangerous to the health of others, they have potty-training accidents, they break things, they bite, and on and on,but no one would ever consider finding a new home for their child because of any of this...they would make it work.
That said,I do understand the challenges of living with pets, and how very difficult and frustrating it can sometimes be.It's a tough choice, and I am sorry you have been placed in this situation.I am also sorry that your feelings were hurt, and let me say again that you made the right decision in asking for help. Also,I recognize the sad feelings you must be having about letting your fur-kid go...
I don't know most of this group personally, and I do not usually say a word about anything.Among other disasters in my lifetime,I evacuated 15 animals for Katrina, lived in a small hotel room with them in Memphis for a month, worked at the Memphis Humane Society while I was there, and came home to rescue countless other animals that had been left to die.None of it was easy, and there were times I didn't know if I could go on.During the ordeal of Katrina, several people told me to "get my priorities straight and get rid of" my babies. It leaves a bad taste in one's mouth.
I am removing myself from this argument,if that is what it is.I wish the best for Casey, her daughter and family, her kitty, and everyone in this group--even those who called me names.I think we all have the best intentions in our hearts, and life is hard.Let's just all try to do the best we can,for all living creatures.--Keri

Hi Keri,
If my five month old's life was not currently in danger I would never consider giving the cat away. She has come down with a fever and bloody diarrhea that the doc fears maybe bacterial and I am concerned for her health and the cat peeing on things she is dressed in and playing with does not help the matter. I knew I would get criticism from this group but hoped someone who loved animals could give him a good home.

I have no family who will take him and no yard for him to play in. I am desperate but thanks for making a hard decision and the last few days of being shuttled to various docs offices worse.

Anyone else in this group get the concept of LIFETIME COMMITMENT? When your kid starts acting like this in daycare or playdates do you GET RID OF IT?
 Just wondering...

Hi all!

I hope that someone in this group can help me.  I have an almost 10 year old car that I am, unfortunately, having to find another home.

He is a big, beautiful, orange and white tabby. His name is Oliver and he has lived all over the place (Alabama, Colorado, even Hawaii!)

Unfortunately he has become extremely jealous of my five month old and has started peeing on anything that belongs to her (cloth diapers, stuffed animals, toys, etc). We have tried a few different things and nothing seems to keep him from doing it.

This is not typical of him but it has progressively gotten worse instead of better and I think he needs to be given more attention (of which I am in short supply of these days)

He is not a lap cat but loves to curl up on the other side of the couch or on a chair next to you. He loves being around people.

I really want him to go to a loving, caring home and hope that one of you, or someone you know, can help.

Thanks,
Casey

Hey everyone,
1)We are in NEED of a budget Videographer, yet again.....many have committed without a contract then say they have other plans...very frustrating.  If you can please, please send us a professional videographer that is willing to do this on a modest budget, would be great! We are looking for:
An edited produced 10 minute video capturing snippets from the 2 day event
Raw footage of all the speakers on both days.
Please email me at [address removed]  with the info as we are now 24 DAYS AWAY FROM THE FESTIVAL!!!

2)As a REMINDER, we have Nola Veggie Fest tickets for sale at a discount on our website for the first time, so show your support, get the savings and be the early birds! Early birds at the door also get goodie tote bags!!!  Again, our website is www.nolaveggiefest.com

3) We will VERY soon have our posters and flyers and will need all hands on deck to get these into circulation.  I will send out an announcement probably on Saturday when they are due to arrive!

4) We are holding the Earth Day event on April 22nd at Bayou St. John and are seeking folks to prepare food for sale! The profits go to the Humane Society of Louisiana/ Veg Fest.  We of course would pay for any ingredients used.

5) Please like us on facebook and twitter for regular updates and be sure to check the website for vendor/sponsor updates.  Please share our info wherever possible with friends and family!
