An Update from the Humane Society of Louisiana - Zeus Goes Home!

Dear Friends,

By now, many of you are probably aware of the story of Zeus, the friendly Doberman Pinscher who surprised an intruder and was shot at close range, approximately two weeks ago in Metairie.  The bullet pierced Zeus' jaw, shattering several teeth, and then entered his shoulder.  Amazingly, Zeus survived the shooting and was rushed to the hospital, where he received emergency care.  Faced with a large medical bill, the family turned to our group and the public, to help raise funds for Zeus' surgery and after care.

The story ran over the wires and made national news.  Donations and get-well cards poured in from all over the country (from at least 30 states) and all the necessary funds for his care were raised within the first 36 hours.  The surplus funds will be used for other medical emergencies involving abused and mistreated animals around the state.

To watch a video of Zeus being discharged from the hospital, please visit:

You will also get a chance to visit Zeus this Saturday at our homecoming party, which will be held July 7th, from noon to 3 pm at Wilker Neal Ave, Metairie.  Please bring a bag or some cans of pet food, for other animals in need.  Light refreshments will be served.

Please come out and show your support for Zeus and others animals in need!!!
