After watching your demo of making cashew milk in the blender, I realized that was the solution to my flax seed puzzle. You see, the polyunsaturated fatty acids (DHA) in flax seed are extremely unstable and go rancid quickly after the seed is milled for meal or pressed for oil. And rancid fats are potentially carcinogenic. That's why flax seed meal is correctly packaged in opaque foil and sealed in an inert nitrogen environment and the oil is correctly cold pressed and refrigerated prior to sale. Sooo... if the seed is soaked in water and then plopped directly into my smoothie to become flax milk, it is absolutely fresh when I consume it. Yay.. ! ... and I need the DHA for my aging brain.
