I hope you are all recovering nicely from the recent holidays. 2013 promises to be an exciting time for our humane society, the primary sponsor of the New Orleans Vegetarian Society. Besides developing a new logo, which is visible on our Facebooksihttps://www.facebook.com/HumaneLA?fref=tste, we are also purchasing a large tract of land, 47.5 acres, which will be converted over time into the state's largest no-kill animal sanctuary, and we will be moving into a modest new office, a few miles from the French Quarter. Our new headquarters will be located on the upper deck of the second floor of the New Orleans Healing Arts Center, on St. Claude. Once we have moved in, we will schedule volunteer orientation workshops and pro-veggie meetings throughout the year.
Also, Lorie Lund, a local animal advocate, is seeking donations to help defray the medical costs of the anticipated surgery for her beloved Yorkie, Macaroni. Mac has breathing issues and needs thorasic surgery to correct it. Donations are tax-deductible through the Humane Society (www.humanela.org).
