A Message from the Humane Society of Louisiana

Dear All,
The Humane Society of Louisiana established this local vegetarian society back in 2008, and from time to time we forward you information that relates to our general programs and activities.  Each year, for example, we lobby for bills that support the welfare of animals and lobby against bills that harm them.  Here is information that relates to one particular animal: a tiger who has lived in isolation for his entire life!
For more than a decade a Siberian tiger, Tony, has lived in a small, barren cage in front of a truck stop in Grosse Tete, near Lafayette.  The Louisiana State Supreme Court has ruled that Tony should not be licensed as part of an exhibition and therefore should be transferred to a sanctuary that would adequately care for him.
However, a state bill (SB 250), if passed, would allow Tony to remain at the truck stop.  Please take a few minutes to read this message about Tony's fate and make these important phone calls - urge these state senators to vote AGAINST Senate Bill 250:

We have received word that the following senators are "on the fence" regarding Tony and could possibly be swayed by their constituents.  So we are asking for your help; it is so close.  If you live in these parishes or know him to be your senator, please make a personal phone call requesting he vote NO on SB 250.  Remind them the courts have decided, Wildlife and Fisheries have decided, and Iberville Parish has decided...Tony must be moved.

If you have friends, relatives or any contacts that live in these areas, who are also concerned about Tony's welfare, please forward this information to them.  Thanks all!
