Earth Day and Meat

I was approached by a Sierra Club member to attend an Earthday event in the Lower 9th Ward. The flyer stated that the event featured free jambalaya. When I asked him if this was vegetarian jambalaya, he said no. I told him I given the tremendous environmental impacts of meat production on the environment, I could not attend an Earth Day celebration that included meat. For example, 18% of all the planet's greenhouse gases stem from livestock production (only 13% come from transportation). It seems that we need to reach out to environmental groups because they don't really seem to understand the vast environmental impact of meat production.

That is incredibly depressing and ironic.

Check out this wonderful video on the subject: http://www.peta2.com/....

Please join us Thursday at noon to educate people about the environmental destruction caused by the meat industry.
