Monday night at Soy & Sake

Soy & Sake is a beautiful vegetarian restaurant (and a very frequent haunt of mine), conveniently located in the West Village, within an easy walk of the 1 train at Christopher St or Houston and the A, C, E, B, D, F & M trains at West Fourth. Loosely associated with VP2 and Red Bamboo, which have been favorites of the group for some time - however it is light and airy, has more room, and a much more varied menu.

The food is fabulous - a wonderful selection of sushi rolls, tasty Asian fusion entrees (Japanese, Chinese, Thai and Malaysian), sandwiches, and bento boxes (a little bit of everything). Really, there will be something there for everyone, at very reasonable prices. The vast majority of choices are vegan, so we encourage you to come, however far along the path you are!

Please feel free to visit their website to check out the menu ahead of time. You will probably be grateful for the extra time to plan your choices! But don't just take my word for it; read the many 4 and 5-star reviiews on Yelp. And these reviewers are notoriously difficult to please!

For those of you who have never attended one of our Vegetarian Meetup events, or who haven't been for a while, this is an incredibly friendly and welcoming group. Most people come on their own and are quickly incorporated into fun and lively conversations with their fellow diners. Imagine an entire restaurant full of vegetarians and vegans to exchage ideas with. I look forward to seeing you all there.   Paul

*** As usual, you are welcome to come anytime between 5.30 and 8.30PM. Stay as long as you like, or leave once you've eaten - your choice. Although if you've finished eating and people are waiting for a seat, we may ask you to shuffle down to make room for new arrivals. Everyone gets their own individual check, including tax and tip. When you RSVP, please give an indication of what time you might arrive ***

Everyone was very friendly. I have not gone for awhile and it is always nice to go and just speak to your neighbors and learn about them.

Hi Paul. I have a class in that area that ends at 8:30. If you or others are still hanging around then perhaps I'll see you!

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
