Vegetarian/Vegan Leafleting with Mercy For Animals - Activism Event!

Meeting Location: We'll be meeting in Union Square Park.  Look for us right on the corner of East 14th Street and University Place.

When it comes to vegan activism in New York City, it seems that Mercy For Animals is everywhere on the march. I've run into a constant stream of Mercy For Animals (MFA) activists at a variety of vegetarian dinners, fundraisers, and activism events. They have been uniformly so kind, sweet, and passionately concerned with animal welfare and animal rights.

About Mercy For Animals:

Mercy For Animals is a national non-profit organization dedicated to preventing cruelty to farmed animals and promoting compassionate food choices and policies.

MFA believes non-human animals are irreplaceable individuals with morally significant interests and hence rights. This includes the right to live free from unnecessary suffering and exploitation.

MFA is dedicated to establishing and defending the rights of all animals. Over 99% of cruelty to animals in the United States occurs at the hands of the meat, dairy, and egg industries - which confine, mutilate, and slaughter over 9 billion animals each year. As such, MFA primarily focuses on farmed animal advocacy and promoting cruelty-free food choices.

MFA works to be a voice for animals through proactive consumer education and advertising campaigns, research and undercover investigations, rescues, working with news media, and grassroots activism.

On Saturday June 30th our NYC Vegetarian & Vegan Meetup is joining together with Mercy For Animals to do vegetarian/vegan leafleting in Union Square Park. We will be giving out leaflets which extol the benefits of a vegetarian diet to passersby. This is effective activism - a lot of people become vegetarians or vegans after receiving just such a leaflet.

The day will begin at 11:00am and end around 2:00pm. You can show up at any time and leave at any time. (By RSVP'ing yes for this event you are not committing to a specific time period, you can arrive and leave at whatever times fit your schedule.)

Meeting Location: We'll be meeting in Union Square Park. Look for us right on the corner of East 14th Street and University Place.

I am thrilled that our group is joining forces with the heroic Mercy For Animals organization to engage in vegetarian/vegan activism. I hope you can join us on Saturday, June 30th for what is sure to be a very rewarding experience -- and very helpful to the animals and the planet!

Wonderful eye-opening, first-time experience to educate people on the virtues of a plant-based diet and animal welfare rights! Thank you, David and Eddie, for this excellent introduction in veg*n activism.

So rewarding to do this. Huge thanks to Eddie Garza of MFA for his brilliant leadership. Everything went extremely well, and we gave out a very large number of leaflets. Our members had a blast. It was a wonderful opportunity to do some good for the animals and the planet. Looking forward to doing this again!!

Hi Jose! In answer to your question: MFA will be bringing a limited number of Mercy For Animals tee shirts for sale, in mixed sizes. The earlier you arrive on Saturday, the more likely you will be able to purchase one, if you wish.

Hello, I want to say that I am not 100% vegan yet, but I"m still interested in what you are doing. My consumption of Fish and Chicken has been cut down considerably though. I"m about 70% raw vegan and have lost 30lbs. in 10 months. I feel great. Thank You.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
