Our group keeps growing in leaps and bounds. For all the new joiners out there, as well as our regulars, I'm excited to announce a big meetup for August.
I've been eager to try Caravan of Dreams for quite a while now, what with all the buzz from both our meetup members and from restaurant reviewers. The food is not only 100% vegan, and 100% organic, but in a world of increasingly processed vegan options, they seem to really care about pushing the frontier in nutritional innovation as well as taste. They have numerous live dishes, and WHOLE ingredients including spiralina, chia seeds, and E3 Live!
According to New York Magazine, "the kitchen has a knack for making simple flavors work in unexpected ways -- so the burrito doesn’t taste like the stir-fry with a whole-wheat tortilla around it. Mexican dishes, like the tempeh burrito, marinated-tofu quesadilla, and the addictive nacho starter are made with vegan sour cream; the lack of dairy grease makes the sweetness and tang of homemade guacamole and salsa pop. Salads are huge, and range from standard greens to sea vegetables to tropical fruits and nuts."
Caravan is widely recognized as one of the most varied, most beautiful, and most delicious of all the vegan restaurants in New York, and it is the personal favorite of many of our members. Why? Again from New York Magazine: "The long, low room has brick walls, pressed-tin ceilings, and ancient wooden floors. Mismatched floor and table lamps cast a rosy, romantic glow over the red brocade-covered tables and banquettes. The menu, vegan interpretations of Italian, Asian, and Mexican dishes, also includes Spanish and Middle Eastern specialties." With such varied and delicious food in such a beautiful space, no wonder our members love it so much!
The New York Times rates Caravan of Dreams a Top Pick on their $25 & Under restaurant list, and writes "Caravan of Dreams is a health-food restaurant with brick walls, colorful hangings, a low ceiling and a jazz pianist. Local organic products prevail on the menu, and what comes out of the kitchen is a colorful array of flavorful preparations. Nachos, made with fresh, organic cron chips, spicy salsa and black beans are wonderful, better than at most Mexican restaurants. And hummus is rich, moist and flavorful, served with warm triangles of flat bread."

So join us for a night of healthy, flavorful food, and great conversation with friendly people. For those of you who have never attended one of our Meetup events, this is an incredibly friendly & welcoming group. It will be easy to find our group: just walk to the back of the restaurant, we will have the entire back room. Everyone gets individual checks, with tax and tip included. Easy!
** You are welcome to show up anytime between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM. You may stay the whole time, or feel free to leave whenever you need to. If the room gets crowded, we may ask people who have finished their meals to move to the bar for a little while. **
