Vegetarian/Vegan Dinner at Quantum Leap in Greenwich Village

**Come any time between 6pm and 9pm, stay as long as you want, or leave when you need to. You will pay for only the food you order (plus tax and tip).**

This month we’re going to Quantum Leap, a homey vegetarian spot in Greenwich Village. The authoritative travel site Gayot.com calls it a “Mecca for vegetarians,” with reasonable prices too. Not only is the menu huge; it is diverse - there is literally something for everyone: an array of appetizers including Vietnamese spring rolls, veggie dumplings and blue corn nachos; eight different types of veggie burgers.

Seitan Satay

More from their menu: Mexican platters (mmmm, try the Chick’n fajita), and Asian entrees served up in Thai sauces like peanut, lemongrass soy and mandarin orange; in addition to pasta, wraps, and sandwiches. Vegans will get a sweet surprise with the dairy-free dessert menu. The good news is that Quantum Leap now serves beer and wine, so you can chase down your Taco Olé with a frosty Corona.

Japanese Dumplings with Soba Noodles

New York Magazine writes, "Unlike new-wave herbivore hangouts, this mature West Village spot makes no attempt to cloak meat substitutes in elaborate disguises. Instead, Quantum Leap makes a virtue of modest ambitions with old-school veggie comfort food. The comfy brick-walled room and worn wood furnishings attract a mellow mix of grizzled regulars, guidebook-toting Europeans, and sweatshirted NYU students. To a sax-heavy smooth-jazz soundtrack, they savor veggie burgers, Asian-accented tofu concoctions, and fish that—free of MSG or additives and assertively seasoned—taste as righteous as they sound. Large portions are augmented with brown rice or steamed vegetables, neither of which rises above steam-table level. Leave room for homemade desserts, though. Curvilinear lumps of banana or coconut “cream” pie are guilt-free pleasures sweetened by honey and dehydrated cane juice."

Veggie Burger and Fries

Zagat.com gives Quantum Leap a very high 22 rating for food. They call it, "One of the original Greenwich Village health-food havens" with a “low-key, collegey atmosphere" and “laid-back service and affordable tabs."

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
