On these Ides, we'll be having a dimsum celebration! Half party, half tutorial, the ever-delicious Ciree will break out her Guinness-mole dumplings (yowza) and I'll supply the seitan, pineapple kimchi, and TripleSec-marinated orange tofu, and we'll all* wrap dumplings together. After some relaxed, informal lectures, we'll spend the night eating, drinking and veg*an hob-knobbing. You'll leave armed with dumpling skills, knowing how to make seitan, understanding fermentation, and very, very sticky.
This is also the Japanese harvest celebration of Honen Matsuri, wherein sake and tiny treats are doled out by Shinto priests. I'll try to pick up the sake-supplying slack in the event of priestlessness -- and please, BYO wooden phallus!
Finally, it's International Day Against Police Brutality, so try not to screw around.
* - not compulsory. Get involved as much or little as you wish, but learning is fun.
(please note the small materials fee, though no one will be turned away for lack of funds.)
