YOUR HEALTH, YOUR PLANET at the Fox Theatre!

I've been looking forward to this event for months, where there will be some of my all-time favorite veg authors, speakers, podcasters and video producers. Note: an RSVP here does not get you in - advanced registration is required by Thursday the 19th at 9:00 p.m. at

The cost is $35 which includes the all day event as well as a lunch catered by Tucson's 2nd all-vegan restaurant, Urban Fresh!

Some of you may be fans of, or remember me recommending in an email a couple years ago, Colleen Patrick-Goudreau's phenomenal podcast called "Vegetarian Food For Thought". Colleen is however, more popularly known for her numerous best selling vegan cookbooks. I've also shared numerous times, Michael Greger M.D.'s on-going video series found on Youtube and his website

Also speaking is ultra-endurance athlete, Rich Roll, named one of the top 25 fittest guys in America by Men's Fitness Magazine. He has a best selling book "Finding Ultra" and a popular podcast where he discusses the benefits of a plant-based diet for athletic performance. Rich is a humble, down to earth guy, and a great speaker.

If that's wasn't enough, J. Morris Hicks will be there! He will be speaking on the obvious simple solution of a 100% plant based diet in saving our environment and ultimately saving our very existence as a species. Finally, our own local Dr. Herbivore, Dr. Ted Crawford D.O. will be speaking, he has personally helped reverse heart disease and diabetes in his patients in Tucson.

This unique and epic event is brought to you at a discount thanks to the altruistic Tucson non-profit, Healthy You Network. I've been volunteering with HYN and working with them to bring the free movie screenings at The Loft Cinema, and I can tell you the people behind this organization have put in an extensive amount of time and a great deal of their own money to educate the Tucson public on the benefits of a 100% plant-based diet. They do a phenomenal job with their events, and this one will be no exception.

Please invite friends and family to share in this educational and fun filled day. There's nothing like hearing from the world's top veg-based authors, speakers, athletes and doctors to inform and inspire others to examine food choices for the betterment of their own health, the planet, and other species. HYN recently posted a Facebook event page at:

where you can also RSVP and invite others, share the event on your page etc. There's also flyers available at Lovin' Spoonfuls Restaurant (see below image) if you would like to post them at your office, gym, yoga studio, hand to friends and neighbors, etc.

Remember, you must register/pay for this event in advance, by September 18th or whenever space is filled. I suggest registering right away as previous HYN events have sold out.

I will have 3 of my patients on hand on stage with me which I hope will be an inspiration to any contemplating a plant-based lifestyle. The title of my presentation will be "Leaving the Herd...for greener pastures." I look forward to seeing you all there! Should be a terrific day for all!

      Hey Santiago,
I thought that meetup groups were for meeting people, but apparently our chatting is offensive to some members (I just got a nasty-gram). So please email me if you want to chat because this space isn't for chatting :-)

I for one, like the random convos that sometimes spring up. If anyone wants to not receive chat emails for a particular event, there's a Notification button below the main "Join the Conversation" chat box to turn off email notifications when other members post a message for that event. If anything huge comes up, I send out an email to everyone rather than relying on the chat so you won't miss anything and you can just stop back periodically to view comments online too. There's also a global way to turn it off by hovering your mouse over "My Profile" at the top right, then one of the 3 options there is "Email and Notifications" then "comments on a Meetup I'm attending" can be unchecked. I just realize you can't hit ENTER to create a line return when replying to a comment like you can do when you post a new one, it submits your message and that sure is annoying.

This will be so great! We are so fortunate to be able to have such powerful experts here in Tucson! And lunch from Urban Fresh? Awesome

    3 · August 26, 2013

  • Jaime

Yes! Any meal from Urban Fresh is a treat as they've committed to avoid buying/serving GMO(Genetically Modified Organisms) ingredients at their restaurant! Bravo to them for caring about our health just as much as we do!!! :)
