Special Holiday Dinner in Clay Pit's Wine Room

UPDATE: The guest limit has been upped to two, and the RSVP cut-off time is now Tuesday (tomorrow, the day of the dinner) at 12:00 noon.

The VNA is hosting a very special holiday dinner at Clay Pit, the downtown contemporary Indian restaurant. We've reserved the Wine Room for a three-course vegan (and mostly gluten-free) family-style dinner service. The cost is $22, and will cover your food, tax and tip. Beverages and alcohol is not included. Seating is limited to 30 attendees. The RSVPs are set so that you must pay in advance—this is the only way we can make sure all the meal costs are covered, because the VNA would be responsible for paying for anyone who does not attend.

If you are a dues-paying member (a Director) of the VNA, you get a 10% discount. Please do not RSVP and pay below as Meetup's system doesn't enable us to give discounts here. Instead, please send an email to [masked] about how to pay using PayPal (credit cards accepted). You will then be added to the RSVP list.

If you'd like to join the VNA (and get the 10% discount), please use this link to sign up. Individual memberships are only $20 a year, and households are $30. Plus, as an added bonus, if you join now your membership will run through February of 2015. Benefits also include a discount on the official VNA t-shirt, entries for door prize drawings at our holiday party on December 14th, and a subscription to the VNA newsletter, Austin Vegetarian Living.

The menu is:

APPETIZER
Batata Cham: Delicately spiced potato patty, pan-seared until crisp on the outside (vegan, gluten-free)

ENTREES
Aloo Ghobi: Braised cauliflower and potato curry (vegan, gluten-free)
Channa Masala: Garbanzo beans, cooked with fresh ginger, coriander, and tomatoes (vegan, gluten-free)
Vegetable Jalfrezie: Fresh garden vegetables stir-fried in a tangy masala gravy (vegan, gluten-free)

From Clay Pit's website:
"Since 1998, we at the Clay Pit have been passionately committed to a singular goal: bringing the intriguing aromas and exotic flavours of India to our fellow Austinites. By combining centuries-old recipes and a traditional clay tandoor oven, with the freshest ingredients and an innovative vision we offer, what we call, Contemporary Indian cuisine. However, we do understand that many of our guests may be unfamiliar with Indian food. Rest assured that our friendly and knowledgeable staff looks forward to helping guide you through the extensive menu. For the Clay Pit family, great food isn't a job, it's a passion. Our promise to you: A dining experience you won't soon forget! No passport required, just love of good food, an adventurous palate and a hearty appetite. So sit back, RELAX, and enjoy our hospitality as you embark on the culinary adventure we call Contemporary INDIA. Shukria, Clay Pit Family"

You mentioned the holiday party on the 14th but I don't see any info about it anywhere.

Just so everyone knows, if you see the guests attached to my name, and the "VNA" account, they aren't actually guests, they're VNA Directors who have RSVPed and paid from outside of Meetup. The actual guest limit per person is still 1.

Wish I could make it. December is a very busy month for me. Maybe next time.
