VegOuting RSVPs

Hello my lovelies,

Thanks so much to those of you who made it out to Mexican Radio for dinner last night--we had such a great time! If you weren't able to join us, I definitely recommend the restaurant, both for the food and for the ambiance.

Unfortunately, not everyone changed his or her RSVP to Yes or No and/or followed through. Not only does this make it difficult to know how large a reservation to make, it puts us in an uncomfortable position with the restaurants we frequent, when we end up with empty chairs that they could otherwise be using.

Since begging and pleading doesn't seem to work, here's an idea: A couple of days before a VegOuting, I'll remove the Maybe option, which will require Maybes to RSVP Yes or No (or not to RSVP at all). This is a more palatable option than charging money for no-shows and/or instituting a three strikes, you're out of the group policy, which other Meetups do. Of course, this doesn't guarantee that those who respond Yes will show up, so I'll continue to beg and plead that if you RSVP Yes for an event, you show up, and if you're not going to show up, you change your RSVP to No.

Of course, there will always be times when you won't know whether you'll be able to attend until the last minute, and that's okay. This is not directed toward you! Work and other last-minute commitments happen, and that's understandable. (In those cases you can e-mail me to let me know whether or not you'll make it, since I can check e-mail from my phone. Just give me a heads-up beforehand that I should look for a message from you.) This also doesn't apply to the potlucks, since we have our usual space at the Center regardless of the number of attendees.

To those of you who consistently update your RSVPs and show up when you say you will, thank you! It means a lot to me and your fellow group members.

Thanks so much for reading, guys! Please feel free to e-mail me at [address removed] if you have any thoughts on the topic. Looking forward to seeing you at the next event!

Warm regards,
