Watch "A Place at the Table" at Geraldson Community Farm

Who are the "food insecure," what are their stories, and what can we do to address the growing problem of hunger here in our own backyard?  To find out, let's join Transition Sarasota on October 24th at Geraldson Community Farm for an outdoor picnic and screening of the documentary film, A Place at the Table.

NOTE!  This is a community event, so not all dishes will be vegan.

According to a recent study, approximately 60,000 residents of Sarasota County (14.3% of total population, 25% of children) are struggling just to put food on their tables. In Manatee County, it's even worse: 15.5% of the county's total population and 27% of its children are now considered "food insecure."

Who are the individuals and families behind these numbers, what are their stories, and what can we do to address the growing problem of hunger here in our own backyard?

To find out, please join us on October 24th at Geraldson Community Farm for an outdoor picnic and screening of the documentary film, A Place at the Table. Bring a blanket or chairs to sit on, and whatever food and drink you like.

In case of rain, this event will be moved indoors. Click here to RSVP on Facebook.

Admission: $5.00 (donation to Transition Sarasota to pay for film) plus one non-perishable food item to donate to All Faiths Food Bank (Sarasota and Desoto counties) or The Food Bank of Manatee. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Love Geraldson's and loved being a member in the days when there was time. Highly recommend any CSA or local farm. You can get discounted "shares" depending how much time you volunteer there. All of our school kids (and those who decide what they eat) should volunteer there. ;) imho.
