A quick update: the ortho cleared me w no restrictions other than pain tolerance. I have the single most impressive bruise/lump/bike-tire tattoo ever on my back and a boo boo on my knee. But that's about it. Got the seven back last night after dérailleur hanger realignment, Di2 checkout, and a new front tire. RODE HER HOME and in to work today. Hey, the doc said no restrictions other than pain tolerance. I hope he meant it!

Gregg, thanks for leading a great ride...and for being a great ride leader!

Great and Wonderful Friends. Yesterday was the day that as a ride leader I dread and have many of sleepless nights over. Thanks to everyone's camaraderie, and just plain wonderfulness, your collective actions made the best of an awful situation. To quote Bette Midler, "you are all my heroes". Lisa - Needless to say, please get well soon and I look forward to seeing you and Rocket Girl very soon. Haider, - You're truly THE Man. Since joining the group a lot of folks(me included) have benefited from your friendship, advice, actions, etc, etc. Words can't express how grateful I am so please accept my personal thanks and appreciation. Josh and Clifton - From accompanying Haider back to the Start to acquiring local transport for Lisa to the lunch site, THANK YOU very much. Finally, with respects to all the other groups out there, VeloDCity is most definitely the Coolest cycling group of the region because of you all . THANK YOU!!

to quote Lisa right after the wreck.... "How's my bike?"... I replied... "there's no hope for you now... you've gone hardcore cyclist on us!"

I was there but I rode with the Potomac Peds instead (later starting time ;) ).

Anyway as were approaching the boardwalk, we saw an ambulance and there were two bikes standing next to the guardrail. One Seven and the other, I can't remember

We heard that these were VeloDCity riders and that the ambulance was refused.

Any body know what or how it happened? And I hope the cyclists are ok

    May 26, 2013

    • Haider H.

It was great to have the rapid response of the Volunteer fire department. The trip to the ER by ambulance seemed quite unnecessary as all reflexes and neurologic systems were intact, there were no signs of fracture or orthopedic injury, and aside from a juicy contusion on the back with the odd minor laceration the rider was the image of good health(by crazed cyclist standards). Lisa must be made from titanium!

    • Haider H.

ok, ok... contusion over the cycling short band... I told you bibs were better.

It really was an excellent ride! Liked the route, loved the stretch before the crash. And I really appreciated the help, concern, and moral support. This is a terrific group!

Excellent ride! I was even happy about the crash. I have never seen such a good group response when riders went down. It reminds me what a great group VeloDCity is! Strong work Clifton and Lisa. Thanks to Josh for the assist on the ride to the van.

This was a much better ride for me than the last Davidsonville ride. I had better legs and was able to power thru the entire ride. Learned alot along the way from Haider. Thanks, BIG BIG. A speedy recover to Lisa.

Gregg, sorry for the late bail out. It's too cold for me. Too used to riding in SFL where 60 is cold. Don't have the warm gear with me.

Gregg, any chance I can get added to this ride? I noticed someone dropped and you're under 30 riders. I also spoke with Joanne and she's got room in the car. Pretty please?

    May 24, 2013

    • Gregg

Hey Chan. Bring your bike and cleats, you're in. I already spoke with Joanne before I got your message. See you.

Important question: What's the lunch plan?

    May 24, 2013

    • Sherwin

There's a sandwich shop at the beach/mile 44. Before we get to that, there's 7 Eleven.

  • Josh R.

Hey Gregg, I just got a Garmin thingy and I'd really like to try to put the route into it. Is there any way you could just put up a picture of the cuesheet or something when you make it?

    May 24, 2013

  • Sherwin

I was thinking about riding from New Carrollton metro station to the start/finish line but I don't think I would make it in time. So I will go straight to the start/finish line. I don't need a ride.

This is my favorite veloDCity ride but I have 3 weks left to pack my house to get ready to move so I can't spare the time. I'll don't want to keep anyone else from doing the ride. Enjoy!

    May 23, 2013

    • Gregg

Hey Mike. Good luck with the move and see you next time.

Love this ride but slow start this year, so not sure I'm ready for 65 w all you fast people - giving my spot to a waitlister who likes getting up @the crack of dawn a bit more than me...
