Looking for a quality epic ride on the somewhat hilly roads of northern Loudoun County in June? Well, the good folks of Bike Me DC have graciously extended VeloDCity an invitation to a pot-luck style BBQ that includes scenic farmlands, challenging climbs, distance options(27 and 53 miles respectively) and a really cool place to relax and spin a grand tale of your earlier ride experience. The cost is $10 per person which will cover the cost of set-up. Participants are also asked to bring something to eat, drink(or both) to put on the grill and share with your friends.  In addition to answering the registration questions, please use the comment field to indicate what you plan bring.  If you have any questions, please contact me or the very wonderful Event Host Extraordinaire: Sarah Wentworth for any questions.

This was a great ride. Perfect weather: check. Farmland scenery: check. Greatest Hostess in the Commonwealth of VA: check. Food and drinks: check. Wonderful friends and company: check. Many thanks to good folks of the Bike Me DC, especially John and Sarah for the invitation to participate in such a great event. Many thanks to all the VeloDCity members who attended with special thanks to Craig, Jeff, Ray and Tim for providing carpool to the carless of us. Until the next time.

Some of the roads had a fair amount of traffic and were rough, but the views were AMAZING and the towns we road through were beautiful. I really liked finishing with the climb (I know, I'm strange that way).

So we were asked to bring food/drinks has anybody heard how we can keep stuff cool in a hot car or if there is any plan?

If any of you DC types still need a ride, let me know. I am in PG (Cheverly) and would be happy to go slightly out of my way (through the city rather than around it) to pick you up, and have company for the drive. Only have room for 1 though as I throw my bike in back of my Prius with the rear seat down. I have thick blankets to prevent scratches but your bike will be laying down, partially on mine. Probably safer than a rack but some folks don't like it so full disclosure here. ;-)

Post a request for carpooling to
the BikeMeDC group. There is a
    good sized group planning to
attend and I think you will find
    rides :)

      Thanks, Sarah--great idea!

I'm thinking of going - I can drive from Greenbelt area and would have room for 3 people, but I think my bike rack might only be able to hold 2 bikes. Also, how will the food stay fresh/cool during the bike ride?

I, too, am looking to carpool (code for catching a ride) with anyone leaving from DC somewhere in the Logan Circle/broader vicinity. Will chip in for gas!

    June 10

    • Tim D

If it doesn't look like there will be carpools, I can rent a car. Looks like it would be about $20 a piece plus gas if you are interested.

    • Gregg

I could use a lift to the event too. Will be willing to compensate in cash and milkshakes.

    June 2

    • Margie

I am doing the double metric century.
