Ride to Annapolis

VeloDCity travels to the state capital of Maryland: Annapolis.  This historical city(and county) was named after Queen Anne of Britain in 1694.  Did you also know that Annapolis briefly served as the capitol of the United States from 1773 - 1774.  Today the city is home to the Maryland State House, the United States Naval Academy and probably more relevant to our group: the finish point to the annual Race Across America/RAAM.  While we're not riding from Oceanside, CA -  we will ride on some familiar scenic roadways from the Galesville and Davidsonville rides.  Interested?  Then sign and join your fellow members in the special fun ride.

Est Distance: 52 miles / 26 miles single direction
Terrain: Rolling to hilly
Pace: Med(15 - 17 mph)
Highlights: Possible RAAM finish line action, The State House, Annapolis Harbor, Furry Creature Sightings, Some of the most scenic roads in the area.

I added the current RAAM arrival predictions in the pictures. This could change. The times are estimations for the cyclist to be at the dock in Annapolis.

Thanks Tim. We were able to see one of the solo riders cross the finish line yesterday. Hope you can join us on the ride the next time.

Gregg... Although that would be fun, I really enjoyed being at the time station watching the cyclists come in. When were you there in Annapolis?

I would like to thank everybody for making yesterday a 5+ star event. Your company and participation were the proverbial cherry on top this sundae(Sunday, get it?). "Longtime no see" awards to Yuri, Jed and Lytton. Gentlemen, it's been way too long and hope to see you sooner rather than later. Special welcome and congratulations goes to Ryan for participating in his first group ride. Special thanks to Sarah for taking MD-410 all the way to Annapolis to meet us in time, truly bad-ass ...but let's try to avoid that next time. Finally Keith and Lane for the warm-up ride company from Eastern Market. Many thanks again everybody and I very much look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Gregg. I'll have to withdraw. Strained my back. Was hoping I would recover after a good sleep. Not to be. I will be missing a fun ride. Have a great time.

Be careful on Riva Road... There are a few blind spots where cars could have trouble seeing cyclists. I usually use Rt 2.

Definitely looks like a fun ride! Once in Annapolis, come down to the city dock to see some of the cyclists finishing the Race Across America!! Check www.tractalis.com/raam2014/ and the leaderboard under RESULTS at www.raceacrossamerica.org. I will be at the finish line already (volunteering).

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
