Great ride! Nice to see everyone! Thank you to my riding Buddies RFK and Gabe! Riding with me all the way and helping me with my 2 flat tires.

What a challenging (and rainy) ride!!! I am definitely humbled by the Taylorstown and Stumptown hills. Maybe next year I will complete the whole ride and not have to walk up any hills. ;-)
Missed out on doing the South loop but still got in 101.11 miles by working in the extra miles at the end on the W&OD. Had a couple of great riding partners, huge thanks to Dino and Gabe for your company and encouragement!!! Loved running into all the friends I have made through cycling. :)

Buckets of fun. No pun intended.

I actually enjoy riding in adverse weather conditions. I feel it gives me a little extra umph to my pedal strokes. I think i rode through more rain today than all the times I have been caught in the rain over the previous 8 years I've been riding. I had a blast in the monsoon. I did take refuge under an overpass as a nasty spell if thunder and lightning was passing over.

I'm wondering how everyone coped with the weather? I was riding on the Maryland side up to White's Ferry, and there were a couple of unpleasant downpours, but I could shelter in the Cafe 107 at Poolesville.

I just kept plugging away. We had a couple of heavy periods of rain, but no real lightning activing. I know several people took shelter from the worst.

Hi, this will be my first ride with this group. I don't expect to stay together once the ride starts, but will folks be meeting at a certain place? (I see the 7am meet-up time, and the Reston Town Center Pavilion meet-up place, but I'm not sure how I will recognize the group. Do you have a banner or something?) Looking forward to a fun ride!

Look for the coolest looking jersey(s) by the water fountain starting around 7am.

Just calculated what time I'll need to get up, to get there by 7am. Eek! Think I'll join you guys for another ride. Enjoy the Century!

One more question to add here: Is the 7:00 am time the proposed start time for all of us to be on the road for the century or is it the proposed time for all of us to meet?

    August 24, 2012

    • Gabriel Rothman

Okay - thanks for the heads up!

      August 24, 2012

    • Mara

      Thanks, Gabriel -

Is anyone doing the 65 mile route? at maybe a 14/15mph pace?

    August 21, 2012

    • ChrisR

I'm riding the century, probably at about a 15 - 16 mph pace
