Haider you were everywhere! Glad you're okay. I finished. Thanks for urging me to push the last 40 miles from stop #8. Caught up with Allen the guy with the army top, and we got in together before 8 pm.

Proud to hear it! I was so sad that I would have to abandon. The water situation was bad but the other stuff made it A LOT worse.

    • Demetris

Kai, awesome job out there. I think I saw you at stop 3, just before I had to bail.

Congratulations to every one of you for your great feats yesterday. I regret that I could not be present but judging from the comments and sights of many cyclists in my neighborhood - YOU ALL DID WELL!! Demetrius, Brent and anybody who may not have performed to expectations - I know from personal struggles how you may feel but I have every confidence that you shall surpass those same expectations 364 days from now. Until then: get some rest, recover, and prepare for your triumphant success next year.

Haider is an awesome domestique. He gave advice and offered to assist me to the next stop and helped take care of Stephanie when I had to drop. I think he deserves a special shout out from us!

All you guys are awesome! What a great ride in very tough conditions. Next year, watch out! Nothing's gonna stop you.

The heat was incredible. Between stops 2 and 3, it got me. Thx for hanging with me during that segment Haider.

thanks for the advice Haider... sorry I missed you when you dropped off. I broke a spoke at 125 so I'm done

I'm so very sad to hear that!

I actually took a wrong turn as the garmin route had me go over some quicksand road. SCARY STUFF!

      July 7, 2013

  • Haider H.

Also to report, a participant has a shattered pelvis and a broken nose thanks to a bad left turn involving a car. Eyewitnesses report mangled flesh and a HORRIFIC sound. We are all glad she is alive. Please send positive vibes her way. Ride safe everyone!

It was barely 90° out, but it felt like we were backing on the pavement in the sun. Once again there were comments about the busy roads and course marking. Much better finisher medal though. ;)

A guy riding with me had it at 97F in the sun and 93F in the shade.

Careful guys! I Heard some bad feedback on 200

      Thanks, Chris, for your feedback.

There WAS one turn that had the sign missing! Made it impossible to follow just the cue sheet.

I just found the participant list on the Total 200 site. If you think you are registered but not on this list, make sure you contact them ASAP.

Just to update... Demetris had a poster finish...I'll post a picture. .. it was me, but I said it was him. Truth be told, I cut 34 miles off of the route (stupidity had me SKIP LUNCH) as it was two hot with just one bottle, A NIGHTMARE. (The other broke pre ride) I was dragged back early to the start by a wonderful support mechanic. Completed 136 miles.... Garmin died at mile 112...phone at...135.. add to it the inability to keep the blood sugar up through the rest of the ride.... made it a no go. FUN WHILE IT LASTED.

Everyone ready? I got my bike cleaned and tuned, packed my food, and am having a nice rest day before tomorrow!

    2 · July 5, 2013

    • Karen

Good luck to all tomorrow! I'll be doing a mere 62 mile ride to Annapolis. My metric century doesn't compare to your double English century. Be safe out there!

I found Eric Goetz's RidewithGPS account and the routes he just created a few days ago, both with "final" in the title.

I got a email update from the Total 200, but still no cue sheets or map downloads. It does appear from the current map overview that the route is not taking the section of Oxon Hill Road that is under construction. May cut over Kirby Hill Rd to Livingston Rd.

I regret that I won't be a participant in this year's event but I'll be there in my cheer-leading capacity. I just have to find those red, black and white pompoms.

Wish I was ready to do this one. I'm training now for next year. Good luck to all of you. I know you'll all kick some serious butt out there.

    June 24, 2013

  • Demetris

My training was placed on pause for the past 6 weeks, so I'm doing the 200Km route instead. I will conquer the double century in 2014!

    1 · June 3, 2013

    • ChrisR

I was off the bike for almost three weeks with a sprained ankle. I've managed some long rides since returning to action on May 10, but I also may just do the double metric (and ride at least to the start). I'll have to see how my stamina is later in the month. I'm also signed up for RAIN (Ride Across Indiana - 160 miles in one day Terre Haute to Richmond on US40) for July 13.

I haven't seen anything local for April. I plan to take a page out of Chris R's training book and ride to and from meetups to get my 100 miles.
