This is a ride for beginners. All female riders are welcome for socializing and support, but this is an easy, beginner, getting-used-to-road-biking ride. You'll learn shifting, group riding (don't worry, we stay way behind each other) and how to drink from your water bottle while riding, in a very non-competitive environment. Meet at Woodside Town Hall in Woodside. We'll ride north on Canada Road and return -- 15 miles, mostly flat with little rollers.
Founded in 2002, Velo Girls is the premier women's cycling club in the San Francisco bay area. We offer rides, clinics, and events for women (and men) throughout the year. Our members include recreational and competitive road cyclists, mountain bikers, and cyclocrossers, ranging in age from teens to 60s, spanning from Morgan Hill to Mendocino, Half Moon Bay to the east bay.
Velo Girls has been recognized by USA Cycling as Club of the Year in 2003, 2004, 2006, and 2008. We've also been voted Best Bike Club by Competitor Magazine, City Sports Magazine, and the Bay List.
Velo Girls is sponsored by: Savvy Bike, Gary Brustin -- BicycleLawyer.com, Tri-Flow Lubricants, eShutter Creative LLC, GoRide Bicycles, mynulif studio, and DexaFit San Francisco, with additional product support from Pactimo Apparel, OSMO Nutrition, Honey Stinger, Frontier Bites, Action Wipes, and The Rack Spot.
