Melo Velo beginners' road ride

This is a ride for beginners. All female riders are welcome for socializing and support, but this is an easy, beginner, getting-used-to-road-biking ride. You'll learn shifting, group riding (don't worry, we stay way behind each other) and how to drink from your water bottle while riding, in a very non-competitive environment. Meet at Woodside Town Hall in Woodside.  We'll ride north on Canada Road and return -- 15 miles, mostly flat with little rollers.

I remember when Ranger John was taking pics, another guy stepped in and pulled out his fancy camera and said he worked for a news paper: Palo Alto Free Press. I didn't think anything of until just now. How fun is that?

Deborah you are such a generous, knowledgeable and skilled trip leader! Thank you so much for making my first Velo Girls ride (and first group ride) a delight!

Deborah and Perry are like The Incredibles. Superhero --- No Cape. They made quick work of dropped chains and got riders on the road again. Truly AWESOME!

Have an ill peep. A friend in need, is a friend in deed. Duty calls...catch you on the next ride.

Hey ladies! I wanted to give you a quick heads up for tomorrow's ride. The person who was scheduled to lead tomorrow is out of town. I just found out today and I'm down for the count with the flu. I've been looking for another ride leader but don't have one confirmed yet.

Worst case scenario, I encourage you to meet up and ride. A number of women who have RSVPd for tomorrow are regulars on this ride and we all take pretty good care of each other so you'd be in good hands.

    I'll keep you posted!

Thanks, Deborah! Not sure if you saw my earlier post. No leader tomorrow. Would you be willing to help out? I can send you the waiver.

You've come a long way, baby! Proud of you.

Any bike rental options in Menlo Park/Palo Alto? I'm a complete newbie...would like to try riding a few times before buying a bike. Thanks!

Hi Aarthi! Try REI, Sports Basement, Mike's Bikes, or Undiscovered Country Tours (Los Altos).
