MTB Night Ride - Lake Chabot, 3

Join us on this Team Velo Girls MOUNTAIN BIKE ride … at NIGHT!

The fast, fun fire-road trails of Lake Chabot are perfect for a post-work ride.  Trails are mostly wide open and technically easy, making Lake Chabot the perfect spot for a night ride.  There is a good amount of climbing, however, with a rewarding scenic view of the southeast bay area city lights.

We have two loop options, depending on the group -- either the full 12 mile bike loop, which takes about 1.5 hours, or we could cut it short at the 8 mile loop, which is about one hour.

Come out with us to experience this popular park in the dark -- it's a whole new spin on mountain biking!  Women of all ages are welcome to join: you will need lights and layered clothing as it gets very dark in some areas, and may become a bit cold as well.  We recommend a two light system: one headlamp and one bar light, although one good light should be fine.

Trails in the East Bay Regional Park District are open until 10 pm year-round.  The parking lot entrance at the marina is open until 6 pm.  We meet at 5:30, ride about 10 minutes after meeting.

Hope to see you there!

A sighting of a mountain lion in Anthony Chabot Regional Park has been confirmed. The lion has been seen in the Grass Valley area, near Bort Meadow, and near Ten Hills Trail east of Willow View Golf Course. Deer carcasses that are most likely lion kills have been found in these areas.

The EBRPD says that the lion is probably a female and is roaming a large territory within the park. The EBRPD is advising people to keep their dogs on lease to prevent them from going into the surrounding brush when you are hiking or running in Anthony Chabot Park or around Lake Chabot.

Hi I was wondering if it would be alright to ride a hybrid on this trail as my mountain bike is currently out of service? Thanks!

I agree with Cristina.. I think it depends on the actually bike. There are a couple spots that are loose / gravely. You def want mtb tires for some of the sections of trail.
