What we’re about

Founded in 2002, Velo Girls is the premier women's cycling club in the San Francisco bay area. We offer rides, clinics, and events for those who identify as women throughout the year. Our members include recreational and competitive road cyclists, mountain bikers, gravel riders, and cyclocrossers, ranging in age from teens to 60s, spanning from Morgan Hill to Mendocino, Half Moon Bay to the east bay.

Velo Girls has been recognized by USA Cycling as Club of the Year in 2003, 2004, 2006, and 2008. We've also been voted Best Bike Club by Competitor Magazine, City Sports Magazine, and the Bay List.

Join us for a weekly, mid-week road ride for ALL who identify as women. This is a mid-level ride with a solid pace and approximately 20 miles with rolling terrain. The emphasis is on group riding.

Join us for ride #10 of our 10-week Winter/Spring Progressive Training Ride Series!

Are you planning to ride the Wine Country Century on May 4th, 2024? If so, join us for this 10-week series of progressive training rides. The series starts with a 6-hour skills clinics, combining the best skills from our Bike Skills modules, along with important information about nutrition and bike maintenance, to start you off in the right direction for a successful event. Then, join us for our progressive training ride series that begins the on February 24th and you'll be crossing the finish line in style! Registration includes the 6-hour Kick-Start Clinic, 10 weeks of progressive training rides (Sausalito, Woodside, Los Gatos, and other locations tba), and a limited edition Velo Girls jersey from Eliel.

This is a ride for beginners. All women and women-identifying riders are welcome for socializing and support, but this is an easy, beginner, getting-used-to-road-biking ride. Meet at Woodside Town Hall in Woodside. We'll ride north on Canada Road and return -- 15 miles, rolling terrain.

Like all our rides, this ride is led by volunteers. Although this is a beginner level ride, participants should be comfortable with their bike (basic shifting and braking) and should be able to maintain a 10mph pace. While our ride leaders strive to support all riders and some one-on-one is available, depending on the size of the group, it may be impossible for the ride leader to ride with each rider.
