We will be watching The Unbelievers. The documentary is about 1 hour 20 minutes long, and we'll have a discussion afterward. Please feel free to bring beverages and snacks to enjoy during the movie.

For more info about the documentary, go here:

The location is the same as last month's. It's at 1198 Navigator Dr., Ventura, CA. The meeting room is on the second floor, so you have to go up a flight of stairs. Please call Akop if you have trouble finding the room: (805) 669-8056.

Glad I went and wasn't the only newbie. Looking forward to the next meeting of minds.

I found the video pretty tedious, discussion was interesting, but I don't think the cork thing worked very well.

We're trying some different discussion formats because in the past some members weren't able to get a word in during the group discussions. I'm completely open to experimenting with a different approach at the next meeting. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Maybe you could pass out "speak tickets" that would function like drink tickets when in large groups so as to prevent people from monopolizing the discussion. Not sure how well that would work, but just a suggestion since it may be intimidating for some people to want to speak if there are others who seem to be doing most of the talking.

Great to see so many new people. If there are any activities you're interested in, let us know.

Not a terrific documentary, but the discussion and conviviality afterward were excellent. Lots of bright, interesting people. Glad I went.

I agree, the documentary came across as an overly long commercial spot for Richard Dawkins and Lawrence Krauss. Every time I saw those plane flaps preparing for yet another landing across the globe, I couldn't help but wonder if the carbon cost is really worth seeing someone speak in person? But yes, the conversation after was engaging.
