From: Joe
Sent on: Monday, January 19, 2009 4:08 PM
I have made some important changes, including start times and payment options, and updates that will make the event much better and run smoother. I also need to clarify some tournament details.

Updates For Brawl players: Start time 3:30p
-The tournament is double elimination brackets, it's not each player plays each other player in a group/division
-Double elimination brackets
-Will not be divided into groups/divisions
-Stages that are banned has changed (Check meetup.com/videogamenetwork for new banned stages list

Updates For Calibur players: Start time 12:30p
-Algol, Vader, Yoda, Apprentice, Bonus characters banned
-Double elimination brackets
-Will not be divided into groups/divisions
-Matches are 3/5, lose 1 match and drop down to loser's bracket. Lose 2 matches and you're out
-Characters selected before the tournament

Updates For COD WaW players: Start time 12p
-No split screen. Each player will have their own screen. No one can screen watch.

For those who are just coming to game but not necessarily entering a tournament: We'll have have these games on hand for sure (possibly more if people bring more)
Wii: Mari Kart Wii, House of the Dead 2 & 3, Guitar Hero 4
360: Left 4 Dead, Halo 3, Call of Duty 4 and World at War, Gears of War 2
PS3: Call of Duty 4 and World at War, MK vs DC, Warhawk, Tekken 5 DR

Payment options: You can pay in person at the VGN game nights. The last one before the tournament is 1/22. You can RSVP and pay online for the specific tournament you want to enter here at meetup.com/videogamenetwork. You can sign up and pay for the tournaments at the venue but you will still have to do it online through paypal or this website because unfortunately, money can't be exchanged at the venue without an officer present. If you want to use paypal, you can go ahead and RSVP at meetup.com then pay using paypal. The payment email to send payments to is [address removed]. If you have any problems RSVPing or paying let me know at [address removed] and I'll help you. There'll be a laptop on site for you to sign up the day of the tournament but it would be easier ahead of time. The window to sign up the day of the tournament will be up until about 15 min. before the start of your tournament.

General:
-The event entry fee can be waived if you bring something. (TV, console, etc.) Contact me about it and I'll let you know if you can bring something and have the fee waived.
-There is a convenience store and cafeteria right down the hall from the venue. You'll be able to get meals, snacks, drinks etc. from there. Plus there are places right around the UH campus to get stuff.
-General gaming and tournament sign up starts at 10:45a. The event will last until about 9p or 10p, basically until the gaming dies down.
-If you're not entering a tournament, you can RSVP and pay at the VGN Tournaments and Game Day event at meetup.com/videogamenetwork. If you're entering a tournament, you can RSVP and pay at that tournament's event page at meetup.com/videogamenetwork
-There still may be a 4th tournament, maybe GH4 or Rock Band 2. Let me know if you have a preference.

If you need help locating Oberholtzer Hall on the UH campus check this link.

http://www.uh.edu/campus_map/buildings/OB.php

You'll find links on this page for campus maps, driving directions, etc. There's a parking lot right accross the street from it that's free on Saturday or you can check with the information booth about where you can park for Oberholtzer Hall for free.
