    Hey guys,
I am hosting but I won't be there until just before 7:00
    Just a heads up.

    March 26, 2014

  • Sebastian G.

If there is interest in a vagrant intro, I could do that. If vagrant is well known, I could also do a "What's new in vagrant 1.5". Not really js, but might be interesting for js devs!

    • Michael C.

Since I am not going to be there :( - someone please ask about Docker vs Vagrant and how one should use one or the other.

      March 26, 2014

    • Aaron C.

The most basic distinction is that docker is for creating your app environment (container) with all of dependencies so you can install it anywhere (cloud, local dev, dedicated server, vagrant box). Vagrant is a way to create simple, throw away linux virtual machines which you can run on your dev box (mac/windows laptop, etc.) to mimic your production environment. You can run a docker container in a vagrant box. https://medium.com/doc....

  • Laura

Long week, so I unfortunately won't make it this time...

    March 25, 2014

    • Aaron C.

next time I'll demo "building a demo"

      March 25, 2014

    • Aaron C.

PS. Totally doing this demo with my mac mini

Wow, just came across fb/react, or the concept of virtual dom and dom diffing in general. Anybody wants to talk about that?

    March 18, 2014

    • Thomas F.

I am also interested in an Intro to React! Next time anyone?

      March 22, 2014

    • Arpad B.

So I’m playing with the virtualdom concept myself here: https://github.com/Swa... So I might talk about some of the concepts next time. Also about some of the other things like lifecycle that React is doing.

      March 22, 2014

  • Aaron C.

I could do one of two presentations.
    1. Remote working tips, tools
    2. If Sebastian does a vagrant talk, I can do a demo where I spin up an app server and a db server and have them communicate

Either will be under 15 (closer to 10) minutes.

If interested in either, respond below with the number, and soon so I can prepare

    March 22, 2014

    • Thomas F.

2 - because there is interest in vagrant.

      March 22, 2014

    • Thomas F.

But thats just me. What do others say?

      March 22, 2014

  • Matthias P.

Haven't been at a JS meetup for a while. I would like to give a minitalk about ionic-framework

Or - if there wasn't one yet - i could give a talk on brunch.io (this time or the next)

    1 · March 18, 2014

    • Matthias P.

OK - then I will prepare a talk on brunch.io. Could be interesting to compare it to require.js/grunt

      2 · March 21, 2014

    • Thomas F.

cool. ok, so i'll putt your talk next to Attilas talk

Cool Cool Cooool. Just got the news: The best talk gets a 50€ amazon coupon from karriere.at. Take a look at their open jobs: http://www.karriere.at/f/karriere-at/jobs

    March 19, 2014

    • Aaron C.

I'll let you know. Considering a talk about working remotely.

      March 20, 2014

    • Aaron C.

I'll do it. But if someone wants my spot, they can have it. I talk too much.

      1 · March 20, 2014

  • Attila K.

Last time i had a talk about optimising require.js packages, now i could make one about how to "build" your page with grunt and optimise a bunch of stuff.
No idea yet about the exact title. Any interest for this?

    2 · March 19, 2014

    • Thomas F.

      yep, interested.

      March 20, 2014

    • Thomas F.

I put you on the agenda! Thanks for your preparation!

      March 20, 2014

  • sol

shall i give a talk about promises?
is it something everyone understands and uses?

    2 · March 18, 2014

    • Michael C.

Another level up, but in the realm of compile-2-JS languages is clojure.async. Rick Hickey has a great talk on the advantages of if on InfoQ. Not sure I quite agree with him fully for simple UI cases, but it is good further food for thought.

      March 20, 2014

    • Thomas F.

@Sol: Could you also take a look at this: http://promises-aplus... ? Mabye you can take that into account for your examples too? So i put you on the Agenda. Thanks for your preparation

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
