Good Stereo, Good Albums, Good Booze...Whats wrong with that combo? Not much, thats what.
I picture this as a small group of people who have invested in a better than best-buy home stereo system...hopefully we can get some people interested who own great stereos. This group will rotate to different people's houses/apartments. Its like your wife/girlfriend's book club, but no books, talk about books, or thinking about books. We will be listening to music the way its supposed to be listened to: Fixing a cold drink, a comfortable chair, good company, and dropping the needle start to finish on some classic albums (and new ones too).
Lets just go ahead and say it, we can handle some Jazz and maybe some country if its damn good...but this group's taste is going to be good 'ole fashioned, ass kicking rock n' roll. If you are a male between the ages of 25-40, You want to meet some other analog enthusiasts, maybe show off your sweet stereo set up, get introduced to some music outside your comfort zone, get away from the girlfriend/wife all while drinking some quality booze. Then we should definitely make this happen.
A few Ground rules:
As a group we will always keep it under control, We will be gentlemen if ladies are ever present or passing through, and we are all going to be respectful of being in another person's home.
Your probably going to have a few stiff drinks. Lets say 3 or 4 albums a session, 2 hours or so. Everyone is home in time to keep the rest of your life together. Its a good plan.
I live in an apartment in Laurel Heights area of San Francisco, but if there is support in the close Bay Area we can always take a field trip. We'll play it by ear. We should start off doing this once every couple of weeks. If you have a good idea to tweak this concept, I'm all ears. If you like to play liars dice as well, you have found the right group.
Bring a good LP or two with you. It might or might not get played, don't get your feelings hurt. I have no idea of the support level this group will bring out, but my place can comfortably seat like 5 or 6. I can't blast the music due to neighbors, but we can definitely crank it up. I have a few choice selections in mind that will pop your noggin. Let me know what you think.
