The purpose of VMTA shall be the advancement of the purposes and objectives of the American Music Therapy Association and the Mid-Atlantic Region as stated in their constitutions. Its specific purpose is the advancement of Music Therapy as a professional discipline in the State of Virginia.

VMTA will engage and involve music therapy professionals and students who are committed to advocating, educating and legislating for the profession of music therapy.
