Another gripping story about local human trafficking by Freeman Klopott of the DC Examiner. Read more at http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/local/crime/Teen-prostituted_-held-against-her-will-in-Md_-and-Va_-hotels_-feds-say-86411212.html#ixzz0hr1iEwfm
Mr. Klopott is one of the few journalists who covers human trafficking in the local area on a regular basis. You may recall, I sent out an email in November with three local stories on HT that he wrote. That email was sent to the DC and PA SMS groups, and thereby reached at least 1,000 people! What an awesome opportuntiy to educate folks about the realities of HT in VA!
I've been so impressed with Mr. Klopott's coverage that I sent a letter to his editors praising him. In this movement, we are often in the position of calling people to task when they do wrong; we must also publicly praise those who do right! I call this my 'Honey and Vinegar' strategy!
I hope you'll support Mr. Klopott's work by following him on Twitter at http://twitter.com/Freeman_Klopott
and online at the Washington Examiner: http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/local/crime/
. And when you see stories like these from any reputable source, please share them with us and your networks, including your local delegates, congress members, and other VA law enforcement and legislative leaders.
I'm looking forward to seeing you all at the next Meetup!
