Re: [vizsla-40] boarding and skin allergies?

Sounds just like demodectic mange. Our V had it too. Huge doses of Ivermectin will help. It started just as you describe in our V, at about that same age. It isn't an allergy but a hair follicle parasite. Eventually the dog's immune system will kick in.

Dog-Boys has a following among some V owners. Unfortunately, V exercise and emotional needs are simply incompatible with traditional dog boarding. If you find a good place, let us know.

Subject: [vizsla-40] boarding and skin allergies?

Hello all- I am hoping I can find someone to give us some advice. With a few summer vacations planned, we need to find a place to board our sweet 7 mo old Vizsla. Of course- he requires his daily runs so I am hoping to find a place I can trust that won't just keep him in a cage all day and understands the needs of this breed.

Also- he has developed some skin allergies that are interesting. For a while he had bumps all over him when I would take him to areas with tall grass (bull creek, turkey creek, Emma long). Now the bumps are gone and have scabbed over and his hair is falling out. :(. It's mainly on his back. I researched a bit online and found it might be a yeast allergy. Anyone else have this problem? My vet gave me an antibiotic and expensive shampoo but I would like to find the source.

Please email me directly if you have advice- [address removed].

Thanks so much!!
