Subject: Re: [vizsla-40] boarding and skin allergies?
My vizslas usually have skin bump issues this time of year. They are growing out of it, tho. My 8 year old girl has a few bumps that are no big deal. It used to get bad, tho.
Ditto, my 6 year old boy also has a few bumps, but again, it's not bad. It used to be terrible, tho, where fur would fall out in the bump areas.
My vet would give him shots when it was really bad. It was for allergies. I think in my boy's case it is mold. Sure enough, mold levels are really high right now. And they were also high at the height of his skin problems 2 years ago.
A vet can tell if it's mange by doing a skin scrape under the microscope. I had a boxer that battled that. My vizslas battle allergies, however.
I would guess your pup is also battling allergies. Very likely mold. There's a good chance he will outgrow them over time. However in the meantime you may want to keep him inside on high mold days. Washing frequently (even
with a cheaper shampoo) might be helpful too wash the allergens off his coat.
Best of luck in all this. I know it's frustrating seeing your dog break out in lumps. It will get better tho, and he likely will outgrow it.

> Hello all- I am hoping I can find someone to give us some advice. With a few summer vacations planned, we need to find a place to board our sweet 7 mo old Vizsla. Of course- he requires his daily runs so I am hoping to find a place I can trust that won't just keep him in a cage all day and understands the needs of this breed.
> Also- he has developed some skin allergies that are interesting. For a while he had bumps all over him when I would take him to areas with tall grass (bull creek,
turkey creek, Emma long). Now
the bumps are gone and have scabbed over and his hair is falling out. :(. It's mainly on his back. I researched a bit online and found it might be a yeast allergy. Anyone else have this problem? My vet gave me an antibiotic and expensive shampoo but I would like to find the source.
