Folks like Leonard Cohen are already established so it's not
such an uphill battle for them. Leonard has a song in the Shrek film and
suddenly he has a young following.
Unknowns like you and I don't have the built in celebrity
status that he has. And I'm also a major fan of has and have been since the
early '70s.
And yes, of course we've always had teen idols. I'm
still talking about fake live concerts, which we did not have in the
past.
Milli Vanilli was destroyed for doing that very thing and that
wasn't that long ago.
Now, it's accepted. And I find that
sad.
And yes, I've played the places with younger audiences
and they've been polite, but then this isn't supposed to be about my music in
particular. I'm talking about the scene in general.

I have two words to disprove
all this negativity Leonard Cohen The man is 77 years old and his audience like
some others are from 20's to 80...why? words matter, content matters and you
know ...the idea that Katy Perry and Britney Spears is something new ..please we
had teen idols in yhe 50's 60's 70's 80's and in fact some transformed
themselves like Rick Nelson into great artists.... its easy to knock Katy Perry
or anyone.....each generation has their guilty pleasures along with more
introspective material...there's a place for both... Dylan never sold as many
records as many teeney bopper bands....Dean your a talented songwriter and
yur music is really good.....maybe walk the tightrope and play in place with
similar music being done by very young songwriters ...you may be surprised the
kids dig it too

MOnday night meeting
Dean, How we got there can be answered in 3
letters: MTV. As soon as songs became the background to a video. . .who
cares what the words are. I call it the Katy Perry effect. I love
her; she sings like she's been gargling with battery acid, but who really cares.
. .
The young people were at the Newport folk
festival in the '60s eating up that kind of music, but they wouldn't
today.
How we got to this point is beyond
me.
